Go Get My Life

I remember one lunch hour in my high school senior year. A classmate and I were in the library. I was depressed. I said, "I need a life". The classmate said, "Then go get it". I never thought about the response for the rest of my senior year. I was too depressed to contemplate the meaning of getting a life.

I understand the meaning today. Getting a life is working hard. Don't take life for granted. Be responsible. Earn your successes. Success finds the hard working person. Stay hungry, stay foolish.

The most recent example getting my life happened in Sep and Oct 2014. I was unemployed. I began job searching again. My second round of job searching was different because I learned my mistakes job searching after graduating from De Anza in 2011. The seconds round of job searching was job searching six days a week. I searched for a job on Saturdays and Sundays. I reviewed my job skills in Excel, Access, and SQL. I learned Python. I worked out at the gym four days a week. I retired watching anime. There was no time for playing around. Laziness equals no job. I was active every waking minute. I was in the zone. I was rewarded with a contract job at Palo Alto Networks. I was one step closer to find a long-term job.

I'm lucky. I'm still working to get my life. Life doesn't come to me. I must go get my life. There are some people who hope and pray on nothing to get a life. I was a person who hoped and prayed. I was naive. No more hoping and praying on nothing. My eyes, ears, mouth, nose, hands, and my brain are in the zone to go get my life.

Bruce Lee said it best, “Even today, I dare not say that I have reached a state of achievement . . . for learning is boundless.” There are more adventures to find, new experiences to experience, and more people to meet. Life can be described as infinite achievements. I master some achievements. There are higher achievements to master again. There are new achievements to master. I'm looking forward to the challenge. Get out of my comfort zone. Go get my life.
