Everyone lives good years. Everyone lives bad years. Hindsight is twenty-twenty. Think Monday morning quarterback. Steve Jobs said, "You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards." The past can't change. The opinions on the past can change. We better understand the past when we continue living. We wise up.
The following years are my bad years. What caused the years to be bad? What lesson did I learn? I think back my past bad years to remind myself the lessons I learned.
2002 bad year. 2002 was the opposite of 2001. I could say 2002 bad year started on 9/11. Life flow went my way in 2001. Life flow went against me in 2002. 2002 was a bad year beyond my control. I couldn't recall any highlights. I didn't remember any accomplishments. Work was hell because there was nothing happy to keep me going. Confusion and ambiguity were the best 2002 adjectives.
2002 lesson. My manager was unofficially fired. My company kept their firings quiet or concocted a legitimate reason for dismissal. She did nothing. A person has nothing, does nothing, gets nothing, be nothing, and people treats you like nothing. Never be a nobody.
2007 bad year. 2007 was an up and down roller coaster for which 2007 went downwards after May. My grandfather past away in Jan. I started to wear braces in Jan. My company went downhill again people leaving the company in Feb. I started working at Cisco in Mar. I purchased my first car in May. The rest of 2007 went down the roller coaster for which I lived like I was on vacation in my high school years.
2007 lesson. The first day I worked at Cisco I said to myself, "2007 is a good year no matter what happens afterwards." 2007 was a year I took for granted. I worked half-ass at Cisco. My gym workouts were both ineffective and inconsistent. I read a string of bad books. I didn't know why I finished reading those bad books. I experienced multiple times of fatigue. Never take life for granted.
2008 bad year. The real estate bubble popped. Work got easier because there was nothing to do. There were fewer assignments. My contract was terminated. I became lost. Who was the real Raymond Mar?
2008 lesson. I realized I must grow up on Sat Oct 4. The changes paid immediate dividends. New clothes. Read fiction books. New desktop PC. New mattress. New gym workout plans. Forgiveness. I opened up to new adventures and new experiences.
2013 bad year. Too much fun. I didn't work hard enough and long enough to learn new job skills and review existing job skills. Also, the process to review my existing job skills was incorrect.
2013 lesson. Playtime was over. It was time to be a mature adult responsible for myself. Spend less time having fun. Spend more time learning new job skills.
2014 bad year. I failed to follow my 2013 lesson in 2014. I had too much fun from Jan to Jun. I was shocked I failed an Excel test during a job interview. The worse day of my life happened in Sep when I worked at a new job doing shady tasks.
2014 lesson. I reviewed my Excel skills and my other skills the correct way by watching YouTube videos. Moreover, I have been learning new job skills primarily watching YouTube videos. For example, Tableau, Salesforce, Python, and CSS. The first lesson was always learn new job skills and always review existing job skills. Learning new skills outside my career is valid. The second lesson was saying goodbye to anything or anyone holding me back. I retired from anime because I have more important priorities. I stopped seeing some people who didn't contribute to my well-being. I stopped seeing some people I didn't contribute to their well-being.

My blog innovates and improves life’s common knowledge. The successful people find ways doing something better. They innovate their lives infinitely. Bruce Lee said it best, “Even today, I dare not say that I have reached a state of achievement . . . for learning is boundless.” I encourage people to seek better ways. Life gets better every day. I share my highlights, my lighter side, my current events, a question, and an opinion.

Throwback Blog: A Security Procedure
Blogger’s Note: Throwback blogs are blogs from my past. I start posting past blogs reflecting what I wrote. It's like my "A Second Look" blogs for which I give myself feedback.
Today's throwback blog is titled A Security Procedure in Feb 2007. Safety is important. Security is important. Protect yourself when you're alone. A suggestion is talking on the phone when alone in an apartment. Shout "911" or "emergency" when there is trouble.

In mid-November [2006], my Dad and I gave away a sofa for free to a couple of roommates. When we arrived, one of the roommates talked on the phone. The other roommate was out of the apartment. After the move, I thought of a security procedure.
The security procedure is when somebody comes over to your house or apartment to make a repair, deliver a good, or relay a message, talk to a trusted friend or family member on the phone. When a situation arises where you need help, the trusted friend or family member can assist you on their end. Inform the person who is coming and the purpose for the visit before talking on the phone.
For instance, a plumber is repairing the pipes under the kitchen sink. You're on the phone talking to a friend. The plumber is about to commit a crime and you're the potential victim. Since you're on the phone, you yell out "Call 911." Your friend on the other end calls 911 on your behalf to send help.
Remember the security procedure if you're alone. Talking to someone assures you're with somebody.

The Philosophies Of Raymond Mar Which Changed
People change. Some people think we're not going to change. We like ourselves. Our lives are happy. Life can't get better or can't get worse. Life changes. Life changes people by choices, by circumstances, or by moments. People can't control many life changes.
I get stronger, smarter, kinder, and wiser each day l live. Each day I live I change for the better. I innovate infinitely. One change is my beliefs. Some of my beliefs change. I hope my beliefs change for the better.
I wrote three "The Philosophies Of Raymond Mar" blogs. The first was on Sun Dec 2, 2012. The second was on Sun Jun 23, 2013. The third was on Sun May 25, 2014. I take another look rereading the three blogs.
The Philosophies Of Raymond Mar
There are no changes. These philosophies have stood the test of time. The highlights include "innovate infinitely" which means never stop innovating your life. Seek new adventures. Experience new experiences. Love is the ultimate happiness. Timing and luck are factors in success. Never stop meeting new people. Adults living a life with hate must grow up. And everyone must have a cell phone.
However, there are minor edits or addendum to my top 30 blogs from my first 300 blogs I wrote:
*Number 17. I wrote, "Everyone has the right to find happiness." Number 17 is edited to the following, "Pursue happiness to find happiness." Some people don't have a right to find happiness. If people want happiness, they must earn it. Nobody should take their happiness for granted.
*Number 19. I wrote, "Have fun, learn, and enjoy." Number 19 is edited to the following, "Take life one day at a time." Life is not fun and not enjoyable every day. There are days people must grind it out. Stay strong. Stay tough. Take everything one at a time.
*Number 26. I wrote, "Live the present. Live the moment." I added the word intelligently at the end to read "Live the present. Live the moment intelligently." Some people abuse the living the present, living the moment attitude making wrong choices. Make smarter choices living today for a better tomorrow. The present moments and the present choices affect future moments and future lives. The present and the future are complementary.
The Philosophies Of Raymond Mar 2
There are no changes. These philosophies have stood the test of time. The highlights include avoid buying cheap gas, dress for success, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and dump the junk.
One addendum is playing board games. I play board games because it's a social activity. I communicate with people. I can meet new people with like interests. Some board games involve thinking. I see myself playing board games in my senior citizen years. Online board games are excluded. Playing board games is live with real people touching the board game accessories.
The Philosophies Of Raymond Mar 3
Some of these philosophies have stood the test of time. The highlights include physical activity, a good Monday sets the tone for the weekdays, no shoes worn inside the residence, and actually holding a book and newspaper or no ebooks and enewspapers. I stand by my philosophy some physical activity is not physical activity such as routine walking and gardening. I stand by my philosophy Costco's fruit and vegetable selections stink.
There is one change which is, "If you have no friends, you might as well be dead." My initial philosophy was people live a good life being with people. People must be with people to live a good life. My philosophy is changed. There are some people who rather be alone than be with some people. These people are happier avoiding certain people. I experience being happier choosing to be alone. There are some people I can't be with anymore unfortunately speaking. I waste my time spending time with them. I contribute little to nothing when together. I use the time to complete more productive tasks. It's okay to be alone. It's not okay to be lonely. If you're lonely, then go out and find some new people to make new friends.

Prepare Multiple Conversation Subjects
Prepare two speeches. The first speech is victory. The second speech is defeat. Life comes down to moments, events, and circumstances. The conversations are determined by the outcome. The outcomes are determined by the actions. The actions are determined by the choices. Anything can happen--sometimes, it takes minutes or seconds to make the choice. Make the present count.
Someone wins. Someone loses. A team is the champion because of one play. A team is the runner-up because of a bad judgment from a player or a coach. A business makes a bad decision resulting in a bad fiscal year resulting in cutbacks. A business makes a good decision resulting in high bonuses. A couple breaks up because one person made a mistake. Two people become a couple because one person has the courage to ask the other person out for the first date to start the long-term relationship. Students discuss test scores smiling they studied hard or crying they studied wrong.
The end results and the processes dictate how the conversation starts. We hope the conversations are always positive. The reality is some conversations are winners and some conversations are losers. The world is a zero-sum game. There are equal positive conversations. There are equal negative conversations.

Wrapping Up Summer 2016
First time seeing a Japanese Mahjong table, bottled BBQ sauce for restaurants, and wild turkey. One reason I read comics is reflecting real life such as patience, unnecessary accumulation, and not sweating the small stuff. I take a break from unemployment life eating at a diner and hiking. We need a leaf blower for the upcoming winter season.

You Have Problems? So Do I
What are my problems? I'm unemployed. I live with my parents. I have very few friends because it was time to say goodbye to many. I hope I see most of my past friends in the future. I job search five days a week. I learn new job skills five days or six days a week.
The world has problems. The economy, poverty, diseases, wars, politics, and the environment are some of the common world problems. Every human being has problems: physical, mental, emotional, financial, and spiritual. Back problems, learning disability, ADD, credit debt, personal self-esteem problems. Relationships, behind in work assignments, diet, lack of job skills, car problems, poor hearing, child bullying, and much more. You're not alone. There are people who experience the same problems you're experiencing.
My parents protected me from problems when they raised me. They shielded me. They wanted me to live life problem free. They ignored problems hoping they go away. They taught me the easy way solving problems. I'm experiencing problems I should have experienced years ago. I didn't learn from problems because I never experienced them. I needed to experience problems in my childhood, teenager, and young adult years to be a strong adult. I'm catching up what I missed.
My current problems are solved soon. Then more problems come to my life sometimes by choice, sometimes from someone else, or sometimes by act of God. Bring on the problems. I solve them. I learn from them. I become stronger and wiser afterwards. Do everything one at a time.
Boredom is a sign of ignoring problems. I want to hear your problems. I want to hear how you're working to solve the problems. I don't want to hear people living a perfect life. Nobody is perfect. Pain is required to become successful. Frustrations are required to learn. Problems come first. Victories come last.
Side note: It's okay to say a perfect life to your lover. Consider yourself lucky you have another human being to share life.

Life Moving Forward Backwards
Steve Jobs was correct. You can't look forward. You can only look backwards. What you do today is unknown it helps you or hurts you tomorrow. In other words, you connect the dots backwards.
I have faith what I'm doing now becomes successful in the future. I'm not 100% sure it becomes a success. I admit it can be a waste of time. I admit it can hurt me somehow. Live the present. Hope for the future. Follow my intuition. I must believe positive results are coming soon. I take care of myself. I avoid stupid choices; however, it's okay to be foolish intelligently or make good mistakes. Life finds a way to reward good people. Good people working intelligently are rewarded. There is no faking. Be sincere.
What am I doing now hoping for a successful future? The list is below:
Working out at the gym. I workout at the gym four or five days a week. My workouts include machines, free weights, cycle, and treadmill. Hiking is included. Any physical activity is included.
Learning new job skills. I'm currently learning Python and CSS. I learned VBA, Oracle, and Tableau. I reviewed Excel, Access, PowerPoint, HTML, and SQL.
Writing blogs. I keep my writing skills sharp.
Reading books. I keep my brain sharp. Reading is one way to stay away from the computer.
Job searching. I job search two times a day Monday thru Friday.
Opening myself to new adventures and new experiences. I visited Zion National Park in Sep 2016 for the second time. I took a staycation Mon Aug 1 to Fri Aug 5.
Sleeping. I sleep seven to eight hours a night. Sleeping rests my mind, body, and soul. Sleep is my spiritual practice.
Spending wisely. I shop around for sales. I buy used books. I maximize the lifespan for clothes and most durable goods. I don't need cable. I'm picky when it comes to buying DVDs and BDs for my movie collection. On the other hand, I spend extra dollars for goods and services I want high return value.
