Cleaning the bathroom sink must include unclogging the sink. There must be a museum for school furniture. There must be reasons few restaurants install bathroom sanitary door handles. Costco sales can include produce items. Smarter people jog as a leisure activity.

I Quit Reading A Book

I want to blog a recent event. I stopped reading a book. The reason why I blog quit reading a book is people quit something. Quitting is acceptable. Quitting is a judgement choice. Sometimes quitting is the correct choice. Sometimes quitting is the incorrect choice. Take responsibility making the correct choice or the incorrect choice to quit.

The book I stopped reading is The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold at page 150. There are people who enjoyed the book. I recognize their positive opinions. The book is not for me. I also stopped reading Pattern Recognition by William Gibson decades ago. I read one chapter. I never read the rest of Pattern Recognition. I finished reading the following books I should have quit reading: The Wind In The Willows by Kenneth Grahame, King Arthur And His Knights Of The Round Table by Roger Lancelyn Green, The Adventures Of Robin Hood by Roger Lancelyn Green, Up In The Air by Walter Kirn, Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, and The Rescuers by Margery Sharp.

I also finished reading for which I should have quit reading Mary Poppins by P.L. Travers. The Disney movie is great. The movie is one of my all time favorites. The adaption is fantastic. The book writing style is boring for me.

Riichi Mahjong

I learned Riichi Mahjong in 2007. I quit learning because it was too hard. A friend challenged me and another friend to learn Riichi Mahjong in 2009. We accepted the one week challenge. I have been playing since 2009. I blame poor resources, low motivation, read a poorly written Mahjong book, and no support for quitting in 2007. I corrected my mistakes when I relearned Riichi Mahjong in 2009.

Sometimes there are second chances after quitting the first time.

Update On A Past Blog

I want to mention the Get Back blog written on Jul 13, 2011 as another growing up blog. I wrote an unofficial official growing up blog I Grew Up The Changes Were Immediate Growing Up On Sat Oct 4, 2008 Grow Up on Jan 20, 2026. The Get Back blog mentioned I must grow up on Sat Oct 4, 2008, the change in clothes, the change in physical workouts, and reading fiction books. Specifically, no more dress shirts, slacks, hiking shoes, and SWAT police boots for casual events. I wrote the last paragraph, "I have a better understanding why some successful people who experience a slump or setback revisit their roots. The roots, the core values, the early successes are what made successful people the best they are. It can be people forgot something and they needed to go back and remember the past."

• Don't build a boat while shipwrecked on an island. Too many things kill you in water. It's harder for rescue to find you in water. Stay on the island.
• Conserve water in a desert to an extent. Need a balance. Drink enough to urinate small amounts. Body uses as much of the fluid as possible.
• Lost in the wilderness stay where you are. However, if you can go to an open area to be seen easier, then move.
• If you're shot with a bullet, then leave the bullet inside you.
• If you're knocked out unconscious for a few hours and feel fine afterwards, then you need to see a doctor for head injuries.
• Snake territory or bear territory make noise and be seen. They don't want to encounter you. Play music is a good idea.
• Don't wait 24 hours to file a missing person's report even though the law says a person is missing 24 hours later. Missing children is a best example. Report immediately.
• Don't suck venom from snakebites.
• Don't eat snow for hydration. Wait for the snow to melt since snow lowers core body temperature.
• Don't rub frostbite.
• Cross wider river crossings because narrow rivers have spots with faster and deeper water areas.
• Drowning victims don't yell and flail because they're concentrating breathing over yelling.

*Use It Or Lose It Skill Not Like Riding A Bike. Remembering is not like riding a bike. Anything at a high skill level is not like riding a bike. It takes active practice and maintenance to be at the top of your game. For example, muscle strength. Bedridden for a long period of time. It's easier to get muscle strength back for those with muscle strength. Muscle memory. On the other hand, it's harder to get muscle strength back for those who never had muscle strength. People can take breaks for those who put on muscle. Lose the mass in time. Gain muscle back infinitely quicker than obtaining muscle the first time. Likewise for cardio fitness.

State Of Raymond Mar 2026

Today's blog is a life status update. These updates are in no particular order.

The Negatives. I start 2026 with an upper left arm injury since Nov 2025. The injury is not shoulder related. The injury is muscle related. My research leads me to a left tricep muscle injury. I think it's a strain. More research needed. Treatments are rest, ice, and Diclofenac Sodium Topical gel. I tried Biofreeze. Advil didn't work after five days. Consulting a sports injury doctor is possible.

Another negative is no new job skills to learn. A friend suggested the open source machine learning PyTorch. My quick research tells me PyTorch is not a fit for my career. I need more research. I learned everything I could learn including PowerBI, HTML, SQL, Linux, and Power Pivot in the meantime. Python and Excel are reviews.

My car needs to be serviced by an automotive technician. An initial check is my car needs a new fan belt. I anticipate more problems for my 2005 Toyota Camry.

Another anticipation is the household eats more take out food. The household eats more processed foods. The household maintaining the daily meals quality declines. I must be more proactive unnecessarily through no fault of my own.

Grew Up On Sat Oct 4, 2008. I realized I must grow up on Sat Oct 4, 2008. The growing up changes I made paid off immediately; for example, new clothes, new mattress, new physical workout plans, and new Gaming PC. Similarly, the changes I made since Jan 1, 2026 also paid off immediately; although, they were smaller changes. I rearranged my desk, I used a longer USB cord to charge my phone, I coated the baking pan with butter to roast chicken to experiment, I played classic arcade games, and I played the Puerto Rico board game with four players as a solo player.

2009 Again? 2026 began with a partial 2009 feeling. Ignorant bliss. Less than too much free time today compared to 2009. Fewer friends, family, and acquaintances to support me today compared to 2009. More serious non-income generating work today. Less serious non-income generating work in 2009.

I bring back the beginner mentality. I need to find new life skills to learn. I tell myself, "I don't know what to do" multiple times. Be a beginner again intelligently. Be ignorant intelligently.

All previous personal projects were completed. Some personal projects are maintained by reviewing or by practicing. Maintenance is not new projects.

No anime, no ballroom dancing, no Accutane treatment, no vacations, no hiking, and no college classes. However, video games are significantly reduced. Counter Strike 2 is the next video game for which I play for the first time. Yes reading books, yes exercise, and yes cooking.

Money. Money resources are not a problem. I continue keeping my expenses in check. I spend intelligently. However, no budget restrictions like the Sat Oct 4, 2008 when I made changes growing up. Black Friday 2025 was like Black Friday 2008. Black Friday 2025 was goods upgraded or goods replaced.

My Foundation. I either improve my existing foundation or create a new foundation. I'm going nowhere. I'm regressing slowly. I'm losing the ability to live an awesome boring life.

The current life path destination is an unsuccessful life. There is failure at the end of the road. Blame life. Nobody wants to live a failed life. No rational person wants to live a George Costanza. There are successes; there must be failures.

I did everything correctly. I learn professional skills. I learn life skills. I ate heathy. I helped the family. I don't buy junk. No rewards. I'm an example of a person who did everything correctly and didn't get the desired results.

On the other hand, I speak up for myself. I share my thoughts and my feelings. I choose the timing. Be tactical. Speak intelligently.

No 2025 Momentum To 2026. 2026 is the first year since I don't know when the last time no momentum from the previous year. No carry over. No ideas, plans, and unfinished projects continuing from 2025 to 2026. My usual activities reading books, writing blogs, and exercising are excluded. Mahjong is excluded. The Counter Strike 2 next video game is excluded.

However, the Black Friday 2025 purchases a 14TB external hard drive and a new gaming PC mouse were upgrades which could have been purchased years ago.

I'm Out Of Bullets. The totality of my life is empty clips. Inside and outside the house. Inside and outside my body. There's nothing. The mini gun is dry. Reloading is possible. I don't know where to find ammunition.

Harder To Make Other People Angry

Most people do a poor job making other people angry. It's unnatural to piss off other people. These people are raised and behave to avoid confrontations. It's better to reason or to negotiate than being angry at each other. Proactive is better than reactive.

There are times the anger emotion is valid. The default "fuck you, asshole" rarely works. The other party is unconvinced. The other party thinks, "do better pissing me off." The other party thinks you're not the person to make me angry. Talking anger smart-ass is an art. Trash talking with malice is an art. Communicating degrading criticism is an art. It's like a master sharpshooter intentionally missing the target which is harder than hitting the target. It's like a professional singer singing offkey which is harder than singing on tune. If you want to make other people angry, don't think. Use intuition. Pretend to behave like a professional bully. Be a Homer Simpson. Don't be a Ned Flanders.

Two simple actions may work. One action is ignoring or keep silent; although, passive aggressiveness rarely succeeds. The second action is counterintuitive. Give a thumbs down instead of the middle finger. The PG movie rated family friendly reaction may be better than the R movie rated mature audiences only reaction.

Do Everything One At A Time Is A Strength

Slow down. Relax. Take a breath. Forget multi-tasking. Do everything one at a time. Multi-task one at a time. Be productive rationally. Haste makes waste. Quiet down everyone. Stop panicking. Everything is going to be completed one at a time. Hang on for a second. All tasks are completed in time. Be patient.

No Guarantees In Life Including Sports

Sports are percentages. There is pass completion rate, percentage drops, and number of points the defense gives up per game in football. There is field goal percentage and free throw percentage in basketball. There is batting average, walk to strike out ratio, and earned run average in baseball. There is goals against average and shots on goals in hockey. There is no 100%. There is no 1.000.

The percentages, rates, ratios, probabilities, averages, sums, and totals in all sports applies to life. Chances in life applies to sports. Timing and luck in sports applies to life. A basketball player experiences a bad shooting night in a regular season game. A no big deal. A basketball player experiences a bad shooting night in a championship game. A yes big deal. The thought process applies to a quarterback throwing a football, a place kicker kicking a field goal, a baseball player going 0 for 4 with three deep flyouts, a pitcher giving up four home runs, a winger missing too many shots on goal, and a goal keeper giving up four goals.

We blame the players for the bad performance. We blame the players for the miss critical plays. We blame coaches for bad decisions. Think rationally. No player wants to screw up. No coach wants to lose. The chances are there to connect, and sometimes there are no chances. Timing and luck are not there. The game is lost. The strategies don't work out. It's the other result. It's the opposite of the percentage. It's the other side. A basketball player free throw percentage success is 90.1%. The player missed critical free throws at the fourth period. It's the 9.9% failure percentage. Failed. The team lost the game. Regular season is a no big deal. Try again next time. Championship playoffs is a yes big deal. It's unfair. It's the nature of the sports world. A professional sports team not making the playoffs with at least 50% regular season wins is considered a successful season.

The Odds Are Against Professional Dreamers

There are a limited number of active professional sports players who play in the top leagues. There are 1,696 professional football players in the 32 team NFL out of all the professional football players. There are 450 professional basketball players in the 30 team NBA out of all the professional basketball players. There are 780 professional baseball players in the 30 team MLB out of all the professional baseball players. There are 736 professional hockey players in the 32 team NHL out of all the professional hockey players. Those numbers are small. Practice squad and inactive professional players are excluded from the numbers. The chances of professional sports players in a North American big league roster are slim. Life is rolling the dice. Many try to become professional sports players. Few succeed.

Cancellations are possible.

There are 24 hours a day. Guaranteed. Nobody speeds up time. Nobody slows down time. The inevitable. Give it time. Give them time. There is an end. There is the conclusion. This is it. Do you understand? Everything is coming soon.

I read my May 2006 blogs to select the Aug 2024 Feature Post. The One By One Guilty blog written on May 25, 2006 is about the guilty convictions and guilty pleas from the energy company Enron. Enron declared bankruptcy on Dec 2, 2001 due to conspiracy and fraud. Enron used accounting loopholes, special purpose entities, and poor financial reporting to hide debt. I wrote in the blog Another Start-Up Business Is Out Of Business on Aug 14, 2021, "Give it time. The truth is exposed. . . . Punishments are administered." Be patient. It took four years and five months for the Enron executives to be found guilty.

Every Person Has A Breaking Point Dream

I dreamed last night I worked at my second company in the commercial real estate industry. It was a dark dream like a dark comedy or dark drama. The two-story office building prepared for a Valentine's Day celebration. The air, the environment, and the lighting felt dark except the reception area. There were no decorations. One of the administrative staff prepared many bowls of candy bars like Halloween. Perhaps, the Halloween explained the darky feeling. The back area prepared for a barbeque.

I worked in the Research Department. One of my primary responsibilities was maintaining the database. There was one R&D broker who needed closed deals entered in the database. The broker was a professional, a top producer, patient, respected, and focused. He was preparing a presentation for one of his top clients in the early afternoon. I received the closed deals he submitted in the department inbox in the morning. I delayed entering the closed deals. The broker asked me did I input the closed dealers. I answered, "I get to it." I was distracted. I was interrupted. One incident involved an industrial broker's daughter who started today as an intern. She was going to take my workspace. I was going to take my co-worker's workspace. My co-worker was going to be fired. I refused to switch my workspace. The conversation between the R&D broker and I continued throughout the morning.

Another conversation was during the 12:00pm hour. I didn't input the closed deals in the database. The R&D broker lost it. He grabbed me by the throat with two hands. He lifted me up. He threw me through a window on the second floor. I fell down at the back area where the barbeque was held. My body shattered. Blood came out from my body. I died immediately.

The dream fast forwarded to the evening. The perspective changed to third person who was me watching from above. Maybe I was a ghost. Maybe I was an angel seeing from heaven. The sheriff's department arrived at the R&D broker's house. The R&D broker's wife distracted the deputies as they walked inside the house tactically. He was an emergency medical technician before he became a commercial real estate broker. He drove out of the garage in an ambulance. He crashed the ambulance at another house on the same street. Additional deputy units were around the neighborhood. They surrounded the crashed ambulance. I woke up.

My morale of the dream is every person has a breaking point.

Full Information Acquired

A person feels good when everything is fully understood. All information acquired. The person has the knowledge. The truth is known. All lies are called out. The feeling is free. Relaxation. Relief. Acceptance. It's like small claims court television shows. The judge knows the facts. The judge issues a judgement.

Regardless, the person must keep the door open. Investigations, research, job assignments, plans, due diligence, and learning are examples. New information can be discovered. The full information is incomplete. Mistakes are made. Changes are made. New opinions are expressed. Circumstances alter the knowledge. Facts are questioned. Always keep the eyes, ears, sound, taste, and touch senses open for anything new.

Life Can Go In A Straight Line

Everyone knows life is not a straight line. However, a person can be in a streak of everything is going his or her way. No winding. Life is great. The flow goes his or her way. There are tailwinds. He or she is moving forward positively, and not moving forward after a negative moment. Get everything done. Check off all the checklists. Complete the priorities. Delay the non-important responsibilities. Wait for comfortability. The plan succeeds by following the plan, and no need for the backup plan.

Here's what happened to me. I didn't need to cook on the weekends because I cooked enough meals on Fri for the household. I completed all my planned job trainings. I worked out my physical workouts as scheduled. I watched documentaries. I learned more life skills. I watched my movie of the week. I either watched selected football games or listened to selected football game while completing Sun errands. The rest of the errands were completed in the mornings. There were no new books to read.

There were no emergencies. There were no unexpected events. No diversions. Nothing unplanned happened. Adjustments minimized.

Further, the weather assisted in my life going in a straight line. The summer like mild temperatures dropped to autumn cooler temperatures quickly. The temperatures decreasing wasn't gradual.

You Have Weaknesses, I Have Weaknesses

Nobody is perfect. Everyone has strengths. Everyone has weaknesses. Many people show their perfection. Many people don't show their weaknesses. I guarantee there are weaknesses in these perfection people. I guarantee all bets all people have weaknesses.

What are my weaknesses? I can't tread water. There is a percentage of the global population who can't tread water because of the body's buoyance. I have poor short-term memory. I must write new ideas, reminders, names, directions, to-do lists, new information, and new skills on paper. I must practice by drilling to learn new skills. I used to be a slow reader. My reading comprehension improved. My speed reading improved. I don't know how. I adjust my weaknesses. I need assistance.

We all have inherited weaknesses.
