I Dislike Going With The Flow

One of my top priorities is physical fitness. I take advantage of my long-term unemployed status to workout four days a week. Two days of jogging. Two days of lifting weights. I feel weak missing a week of workouts. I feel failure missing a week of workouts. I feel unhealthy. I falsely feel gaining weight. All of these feelings should be nothing. I have been sick in the past. I have been injured in the past. I eventually get back to health like professional athletes. There is nothing to worry about.

The week of Mon Jul 21, 2025 I hated going with the flow. Going with the flow reduced stress; on the other hand, stress increased missing physical workouts. Physical fitness decreases stress. The increase and decrease didn't cancel each other. There were events, instances, and circumstances beyond my control. My sister in-law and my nephew stayed overnight on Mon Jul 21. The household didn't have groceries. My brother, older nephew, and niece visited on Tue Jul 22. I cleaned the household on Wed Jul 23 to take advantage of the below average temperatures. I drove a family member to the hospital for multiple appointments on Thur Jul 24. I also experienced multiple stomach aches. The explanations were a poor breakfast and an inadequate lunch. My sister's dog stayed overnight on Fri Jul 25.

The entire week I adjusted my routines. I delayed routines. There were one-time priority tasks. The week of Mon Jul 21, 2025 was a crappy week. Acknowledge the crappy week. Everybody experiences crappy days. Everybody experiences crappy weeks. Nobody plans a crappy week. Unemployed people rarely experience crappy weeks due to fewer responsibilities and fewer obligations. Life happens. Move forward. Fighting the flow can be worse than going with the flow. Sleep well at the end of the day.

Update On A Past Blog

I convinced myself go with the flow on Mar 16, 2022 from the blog Consciously Aware My Mind Is Focused On The Flow. I wrote today's blog to reinforce go with the flow. There were no penalties, fines, and reprimands for the Mon Jul 21, 2025 week. Moreover, my right hip is sore for which I mentioned in the blog. Perhaps, no workout for the week may speed up the healing.

The Amazon eCommerce Is A Factor For Small Businesses Demise

I went to a local bookstore to purchase a book for a graduation present. The book was not in stock. The book is a New York Times Bestseller in the triple digits weeks on the list. I needed to special order. The wait time was one week.

The one week wait was a small deal because I shopped early before the graduation date. On the other hand, if I needed the book immediately, then I shopped at Barnes & Noble. The local bookstore lost a sale and lost a customer due to lack of inventory.

No Benefit Of The Doubt

Today's blog I call out the ownership and management of small businesses. The big box stores and the big eCommerce retailers attract many customers due to lower prices, greater inventory, and fast shipping. No excuses for the small businesses. Any businesses struggling is ownership and management fault. Any businesses in bankruptcy ownership made bad choices. There are exceptions. Small businesses can't control the market. Small businesses can't control the economy.

I want to support small businesses. Small businesses keep cities alive. If ownership and management practice competence, then customers continue utilizing small businesses goods and services.

A Second Look At 2023

It's the time I look back at my 2023 blogs to give myself feedback. The goals delaying one year are relearning from my mistakes, reinforcing my lessons, reminding myself my moments, refreshing acquired knowledge, rediscovering new wisdom, correcting errant blogs, and sharing changes. The 14 blogs are also the 2023 best blogs.

1. Too Much Too Tired
Date: Tue Mar 7
Summary: Nobody is at fault for being fatigued because we live in the fast pace Information Age.
Feedback: Fast, faster, and fastest. The assignments, responsibilities, and training should have been completed yesterday. Everyone is doing more 24 hours a day and seven days a week. The same 24 hours a day and seven days a week were our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents generations lived. It's the Information Age. Stop complaining or live somewhere else.

I share two stories. The first story my brother is a cyber security engineer. One of his responsibilities is programming. He uses his company's proprietary AI to write the code. AI saves time. He has too many responsibilities. The second story my niece is a sophomore in high school. Her physical education class is yoga. The instructor allows students to take naps after yoga because students are too tired. There are too many responsibilities for today's high school students they must complete hours of homework in minutes.

2. The Time Is Now And Later
Date: Fri Apr 23
Summary: Go with the flow.
Feedback: Good intention blog. Dumb topic blog. We go backwards sometimes as we move forwards. We hope the net gain is forward. +2-1=+1 is the math formula. Unfortunately, some people the net gain is backwards. Life is unfair.

The timing is good for the second look. I'm surviving Dec 2024 by going with the flow. I hate adjusting my schedules beyond my control. The frustration feeling is recognized. Fewer responsibilities are completed at the end of the day. Finish the rest of the responsibilities another day.

The last two weeks of 2024 are rest weeks. The frustrations continued during the first week. I accepted them. Life goes on.

3. Graduation Means Continue Learning
Date: Sat Jun 10
Summary: I summarized my self job training since May 2015.
Feedback: The final self job training or the endgame started on Jun 7, 2023. The endgame was completed on Mar 24, 2024. I graduated myself with an Analytics Research Technology degree on Apr 19, 2024. The learning continues on Jul 15, 2024 with a weekly schedule Excel, HTML, JavaScript, Power Pivot or Power Query, Python, and WordPress.

4. Do We Fail When We Do?
Date: Sat Jun 24
Summary: Quitting doesn't necessarily equate to failure.
Feedback: The blog is confusing. I meant to say everyone does their best. Not everyone succeeds. Are the people who don't succeed a failure?

Answer the question: successful fail or success failed? Or successfully failed as in I did my best--if I died tomorrow, then could I say I did my best? I did what I must. Success failed can be elaborated as I did everything I was told. I did everything by the book. I followed the plan. I followed the advice. I followed the guidance. Unsuccessful. I failed.

If the chances of success are low or the chances of failure are high, then why do it? Good philosophical discussion.

5. Continue The Lie
Date: Sat Jul 8
Summary: I dreamed last night I faked an analysis report.
Feedback: The feedback is for the Update On A Past Blog for which a co-worker faked the statistics. He was caught. He found another job before he was fired.

Bullshit is not 100% successful. Most bullshit is detected. "I don't know" or "It was that way when I came here" are good ways to deflect blame when in trouble.

There was a Freakonomics podcast on academic researchers faking their reports Why Is There So Much Fraud in Academia? released on Jan 10, 2024. There is an update Why Is There So Much Fraud in Academia? (Update) released on Dec 25, 2024

The most successful people and most successful companies didn't make it to their tops on hard work and following the rules. There are some bullshit involved. They and it must be assholes to make it to the top and stay on top. The stakes are too high not to be assholes.

6. All Is Ready Cue The Bugs Bunny Road Runner Show Opening Theme
Date: Mon Aug 7
Summary: I posted two YouTube videos and the lyrics on The Bugs Bunny And Road Runner Show opening theme to celebrate completing my self job training.
Feedback: I didn't play the song when I finished the self job training end game resulting in graduating with Self Job Training Graduation Analytics Research Technology on Apr 19, 2024. I played the song after I posted the blog.

7. Moving Forward Maturely
Date: Sun Aug 20
Summary: The week of Mon Aug 14, 2023 was a bad week.
Feedback: A second go with the flow blog. The responsibilities for the week of Mon Aug 14, 2023 were completed or incompleted. There was no penalty for half-ass work. There was no reward for maximum completion.

Nobody is perfect. Even professionals are not perfect. They don't win 100% of the time. They can't do it today. There's always tomorrow. Excuses are justified.

The feedback for number seven combines with number two. There are justified excuses from Thanksgiving 2024 to the end of Dec 2024. Dec 2024 is ending the 2024 year on a bad note. There are more bad days than good days. There are unfortunate circumstances. There are unanticipated new priorities clear and present. More frustrations. More bad timing. Responsibilities are being completed or incomplete at the end of the day. A silver lining is lessons learned and wisdom acquired.

8. Life Is Not Fair In My Words
Date: Fri Aug 25
Summary: I shared my thoughts on the common knowledge "life is not fair." The government. The education. The economy. The social class. The world. The system.
Feedback: A quick philosophical feedback. There is balance in life. Does the balance mean a balance of good and evil? Does the balance mean a balance of winners and losers? Does the balance mean a balance of success and fails? There are winners. There are losers. There can't be a world of pure 100% good. There can't be a world of pure 100% evil. Or there can't be a world of 100% destruction.

9. I Have A Brain
Date: Wed Sep 20
Summary: My internal body and external body are sound.
Feedback: I repeat the statement "I made more of my share of life mistakes." I say on the record I experienced more bad luck than good luck. I say on the record I experienced more failures than successes. I say on the record I experienced more defeats than wins. Any past blogs saying the contrary are incorrect.

10. Full Information Acquired
Date: Sun Oct 15
Summary: Full information is not acquired.
Feedback: I reiterate there is always a possibility all information not acquired. There is always uncertainty. Full information or perfect information doesn't exist.

I adapt the uncertainty principle from German scientist Werner Heisenberg for a non-scientific wisdom. The uncertainty principle scientific explanation is particles' positions and velocities can't be observed.

11. Emotionally Draining
Date: Thur Oct 19
Summary: I speculated the three Major League Baseball teams which won 100 or more regular seasons games were eliminated in the 2023 playoffs due to emotionally exhaustion.
Feedback: I learned a wisdom in 2024. The head or the brain is more important than the heart. Intelligences or mental capabilities take precedence over emotions. Physical capabilities take precedence over emotions.

The Golden State Warriors started the 2024-2025 NBA season with a 12-3 record and first place in the Western Conference. The Warriors record is 16-15 and ninth place in the Western Conference as of Dec 30, 2024. I speculate the Warriors 12-3 start were motivated more on emotions and less on intelligence. The emotions are drained.

12. Happy Living An Alternate Life
Date: Mon Nov 13
Summary:
Feedback: I wrote multiple daily life blogs in 2023. I choose the Happy Living An Alternate Life blog to represent these daily life blogs. These daily life blogs are not bullshit blogs. These blogs are honest blogs. One can say I repeat the blogs to increase my blog count. Fair statement. I repeat myself and I reiterate I'm doing the best I can to earn a happy life.

My changed attitude, stronger strength, increased intelligence, and added wisdom changed my viewpoint on the daily life blogs. They're legitimate. Don't take life for granted. I'm one step closer to become a self-trained genius.

More people discover living a happy life by spending more time at home, more time in private residences, or more time indoors due to the global pandemic. Prices are going up. Money can change attitudes.

13. I Worked At Bad Companies
Date: Sun Nov 19
Summary: It was bad luck I worked at bad companies.
Feedback: I wrote a cynical blog. There are good companies. The general population never hears about good companies because they're not newsworthy. Bad companies are known because they're newsworthy.

Luck applies to the North America professional sports teams football, baseball, basketball, hockey, and soccer. There are professional drafts bringing new players from high schools, colleges, and foreign countries to these sports teams. The luck involves which player is drafted to which team. Is the team a good company or is the team a bad company? A professional team is a company. All draft pick players hope their company he or she plays include professional treatment, good coaching, good ownership, support, and opportunities. Politics and complaints are minimized.

14. Merry Unmotivational Christmas
Date: Tue Dec 26
Summary: My 2023 Christmas was unsatisfactory.
Feedback: The feedback is cynical. There are always people celebrating a happy first Christmas for *insert reason*. For example, first marriage couple Christmas, first baby Christmas, first Christmas in a new house, and first Christmas cancer free. On the other hand, I sense more sad Christmases for *insert reason*. I sense more people celebrating another melancholy Christmas.

I stand by my opinion on the blog; in particular, the paragraph: All leisure activities including birthdays and holidays require planning. It's an oxymoron work and effort must be completed for play and fun moments. Chaos is the result without work and effort. Chaotic leisure is not leisure. The rewards pay off after the work and effort are completed sincerely and satisfactory.

Motivation is required to celebrate a good Christmas. I'm happy my 2024 Christmas was satisfactory. I corrected my mistakes in 2023. I motivated myself. I hoped my motivation influenced others to work for their happy Christmas 2024.

The following blogs are honorable mentions: Kick The Can Down The Road, The Devil Is Persistent Collecting The Bills, and A Lesson From The Rich People.

Top 2023 Pics

Here are the top five pictures I took in 2023. They're sorted from the start of the year to the end of the year. The goals delaying one year are relearning from my mistakes, reinforcing my lessons, reminding myself my moments, refreshing acquired knowledge, rediscovering new wisdom, and sharing changes. Enjoy!

Update On A Past Blog

2024 is over. I shut down my life during the Mon Dec 23, 2024 and Mon Dec 30, 2024 weeks. These two weeks remind me of the blog First Time I Saw A Restaurant Close On Tuesdays I wrote on Dec 9, 2018. I declared 2018 was over. I said, "Bad luck. Bad timing. Misfortunes." Dec is ending on bad luck, bad timing, and misfortunes. I adapt the "I respond what life gives me. I go with the flow." It's time to take a break. It's time to rest. Two reasons are loss of focus and fatigue.

I took partial breaks and spread the partial breaks from Oct 2023 to Jan 2024 to finish reading Moby-Dick by Herman Melville. The time span was the last time I took any break or any vacation.

The Dots Connect Backwards To Everything Except Financial Rewards

Blogger's note: Today's blog is posted at both Innovating Common Knowledge and Finding Raymond Mar.

"You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something--your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life." --Steve Jobs

I agree with the late Steve Jobs. I must trust myself what I'm doing today rewards me tomorrow. I have been doing the same since 2015. I review my existing job skills such as Excel and SQL. I learn new job skills such as Python and R. They're self job training. Job searching is five days a week. I exercise four days a week consisting of two days cardio and two days strength training. I read books. I write blogs. I cook. I eat healthy. I sleep well. I learn life skills such as tying knots, typing Morse Code, making paper airplanes, and memorizing jokes. I catch up what I missed in my 20s and 30s. My movie of the week is on Sundays. I play video games once a month. Never stop learning. Innovate infinitely. Get up and do something, anything. Furthermore, I do my fair share maintaining the household. Costs are minimized. I control my leisure spending. Most of the above are boring; however, I make them awesome. I socialize with people outside the family post-pandemic starting in Aug 2024.

I have been doing everything correct. I have been doing everything right. I'm an example there are people who do everything right. The favorable outcomes don't happen. No job. No income. No freedom. Life moves slowly at best. I'm an example life is unfair. There are winners and there are losers. I'm one of the losers. I'm an example being a loser beyond my control.

What am I going to do? The answer is continue the present path. There are no alternatives. There's nothing to lose. I pay my debts to the family. I appreciate all who supports me. I help the supporters when they need help. Playing video games, watching television, and eating processed foods seven days a week are unacceptable; I might as well die.

A Shout Out To The People Like Me

I'm open to all suggestions to help me escape being a loser. I'm open to all suggestions to correct my unrealized mistakes. However, I don't want to hear easy answers and clique solutions. Go back to school? No. Get a part-time job? Depends. Unlikely my job skills match any part-time position. Network? Overrated. There are too many people applying to the too few job openings. Attend job networking seminars? A waste of time for 90% of the unemployed attendees who are losers. Hire a professional to improve your job search? Waste of money. Most of a professional's advice can be found online for free. Freelance? Not a match with my background. You said do something, anything earlier--do something? I said it. I'm not doing anything half-ass. All-in or all-out. I have nothing to lose. It's a judgment call.

I recognize myself and I recognize the millions of long-term unemployed people with bad luck and bad timing. I recognize us as false losers. Good opportunities pass us. We do our best sincerely. We cause no trouble. We make our lives and the people in our lives as easy as possible.

Update On A Past Blog

Some people experience the opposite Life Is Good Because It's Predictable And Certain on Jan 20, 2025 when President-elect Donald Trump is inaugurated. I wrote the blog on Jan 20, 2022. These people are uncomfortable living an unpredictable life. These people desire a predictable life with 99.9999. . .% accuracy. They don't want bombshells. They want to keep the same security blanket. The 47th President is uncertain as of today. The 2025-2028 future is unclear. Time is the ultimate judge Trump makes the correct decisions for the United States Of America.

Top Ten Plus Four Equals Top Fourteen Problems Solved Are Impossible

Life is unfair. It's a common wisdom. The world is not perfect. It's another common wisdom. There are always problems every minute. Think about the history of humans. Some of these problems existed since the ancient history. Some of these problems existed since the dawn of the human. These fourteen problems finding permanent solutions for every human being on Earth are improbable. If a person solves one of the fourteen problems below permanently, then the person is a god. I write with 99.9% confidence even though I'm not a professional in their respective fields. Here are the top ten plus four equals top fourteen problems solved are impossible.

14. Too Big To Fail. The global big name companies. The top Fortune 500 companies. The top of the top can't fail. These companies are built to last doing everything legal, border line legal, border line illegal, anything. AT&T, Wal-Mart, NFL, Cisco, Bank Of America, Chase, Google or Alphabet, banks, tech, finance, governments, manufacturing, etc. If any of the above fail, then the impact affects many people in many countries. Bailouts, mergers, and interventions can prevent failure.

13. World Wars. There is always conflicts between at least two countries leading to war.

12. Natural Resources And Energy Shortages. There are not enough water, electricity, and natural gas. The population increases require natural resources and energy for life. Expect prices to increase indefinitely.

11. US Democracy. The US government democratic system consists of two parties which are Democratics and Republicans.

10. Mass Shooting. The violent crime deserves its own entry. More people die from criminals shooting multiple victims.

9. Divorce. A book can be written by one hundred top marriage counselors. There are always divorces at a divorce rate around 50%. People always change. Couples always change. Families always change.

8. Mental Depression. More people become depressed for whatever reasons such as the current COVID-19 global pandemic, loneliness, loss, and financial problems. More people have poor social skills. More people feel isolated. Today's Information Age living increases anxiety. There is too much screen time on phones and computers. Other common mental illnesses anxiety, fear, drug use, and alcoholics are included.

7. Illiteracy. Adults and children can sneak through the cracks during their education nobody taught them to read for whatever reasons.

6. Drunk Driving. Call it brain fart. Call it stupidity. Call it taking life for granted. People drive over the legal alcohol limit for whatever reasons. Some can escape. Some are arrested. Some kill people.

5. Cancer. Humans and life mutate. It's life. It's evolution. Also, there's no cure for the common cold.

4. Crimes. I include violent crimes such as domestic violence, murders, robberies, homicides, and burglary. I also include white-collar crimes such as fraud, money laundering, and embezzlement.

3. Homelessness. More people are going to be homeless globally. There are not enough resources to help them. There are not enough resources to slow down the homelessness rate. The cost of living increases. In addition, the job market is tight indefinitely. More people can't find work. Homelessness leads to number two . . .

2. Income Inequality. Social economic barriers. The rich gets richer because of the laws, the economic system, and the finance system. There is always poverty.

1. Discrimination And Racism. There is preferential treatment. Racism, discrimination, and prejudice existed in the past. Racism, discrimination, and prejudice are present. Racism, discrimination, and prejudice exist tomorrow. They continue throughout humankind.

Blame Life For Too Much

Today's blog is an update on a past blog.

Update On A Past Blog

I want to remind most people there is too much to do. If your head is still in your ass, then I inform you, "Welcome to the Information Age." Boredom is impossible.

We can choose wisely to eliminate some too much to do. Be courageous. Do something new. Strengthen leisure activities. Maximize intelligent leisure such as exercising and reading books. Minimize zombie leisure such as playing video games. Choose more sleep and remove watching a TV series. Eat healthier foods. Avoid junk foods. Exchange time on social media for time on job training. It's ironic work must be completed for a happier life in work, rest, and play.

Here are selected past blogs reviewing and reminding life is making most people do too much. Don't blame yourselves. However, we can choose the best way to live life daily minimizing stress.

The cynical blog and the pessimistic blog Scarcity For Real Or There Is Too Little written on Jul 19, 2020 repeats what I wrote above. There are 24 hours a day. In particular, more money, more time, more work, more costs, more training, more experience, and more education are required to complete responsibilities, projects, events, goals, and successes. Further, there are too many people. There are too few opportunities. More people are unsuccessful through no fault of their own.

I wrote the blog Too Much Hurrying And Too Much To Do on Apr 19, 2020. "The new generation believes today is the normal pace. The old generation believes today is faster than their younger years. . . . There is more automation. Do it quick is accepted. There are more choices. We must think fast to choose. We don't want to do more. [Yet, we] must do more most of the time."

I wrote the blog Global Fatigue on Apr 19, 2019 saying people are tired because there is too much to do.

People don't take care of themselves ruin their lives and the people around them. I remind people to take care from head to toe and inside and outside from the blog Today I Want To Talk About Taking Care Of Yourself written on Oct 28, 2018. I said the following on stress: Stressed out people forget who they are. Stressed out people become weaker, think slower, lose patience, self-esteem becomes poor, and spend more money on processed foods. They fail to take time to take care of their bodies. No self-responsibility. No self-respect.

I calculated the arithmetic it's possible a parent has Three Hours Of Me Time Weekdays written on Feb 8, 2013. The hours between 7pm and 10pm are the me time. I didn't factor time to cook meals for their children and taking care of the body such as brushing teeth and showering. The parent doesn't sleep eight hours a night. The blog is still true today. The blog passes the test of time.

I Understand The Truth By Identifying The Diversion

red herring: 1 someone who or something which misleads or distracts from a relevant or important question. 2 someone or something intended to divert attention from the real problem or matter at hand; a misleading clue. 3 a fact, idea, or subject which takes people's attention away from the central point being considered. A diversion.

Someone hides weaknesses. Someone hides ignorance. Somone laughs too loud and/or too much. Someone hides he or she is losing. Point out the contradictions. Question the possible lies. Look past the facade. The timing of changing the subject is questioned. Immature behavior is inappropriate at the present moment. The mistakes are intentional. There is clear and present ignoring the topic. Use intuition if necessary. Identify the red herring. Acquire the facts. Analyze the data. Combine the knowledge. Discover the truth. Actions speak louder than words. The rewards are earned appropriately. The consequences are administered to the guilty.

Update On A Past Blog

I read my May 2006 blogs to select the Aug 2024 Feature Post. The One By One Guilty blog written on May 25, 2006 is about the guilty convictions and guilty pleas from the energy company Enron. Enron declared bankruptcy on Dec 2, 2001 due to conspiracy and fraud. Enron used accounting loopholes, special purpose entities, and poor financial reporting to hide debt. I wrote in the blog Another Start-Up Business Is Out Of Business on Aug 14, 2021, "Give it time. The truth is exposed. . . . Punishments are administered." Be patient. It took four years and five months for the Enron executives to be found guilty.

Throwback Blog: The Lesson To Be Successful Rarely Taught

Blogger's Note: Throwback blogs are blogs from my past. I start posting past blogs reflecting what I wrote. It's like my "A Second Look" blogs for which I give myself feedback.

Today's throwback blog is titled The Lesson To Be Successful Rarely Taught written on Sep 12, 2018. Part of the title word Lesson should be Lessons in plural. The lessons are timing, luck, opportunity, and chance. I add how to learn from mistakes to the list of lessons. Teaching learn from mistakes is easier than timing, luck, opportunity, and chance. I also add motivation or desire is more important than knowledge or intelligence.

What is the lesson to be successful? The lesson is timing, luck, opportunity, and chance. How are timing, luck, opportunity, and chance taught? Impossible. If there is a way, then someone teach me. Also, if there is a way, then it's likely the teaching is difficult. Forget the quotes from the most successful people in business, sports, politics, and arts. Timing, luck, opportunity, and chance are four simple words to success. Many people can be engineers. Many people can be plumbers. Many people can be doctors and nurses. Many people can be accountants. Many people can be athletes making an income. Many people can be actors or actresses. Few people achieve those professions.

Are you at the right place at the right time? If yes, then timing favors you. Are you in good health? If yes, then you're lucky. Similarly, do you have a good brain and do you live in a good community? You have good luck. Do you have a complete college education or do you have good training? If yes, then you have opportunity. Do you have interviews? Do you have callbacks? Do you have invites? Do you have offers? Are you in the second round of an audition? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you have a chance.

Some people have the timing, luck, opportunity, and chance. Some people don't have the timing, luck, opportunity, and chance. There are winners and losers in championship games such as the Super Bowl and World Series. There are winners and losers in life. Some bad people win. Some good people lose. Life is unfair. Pray timing, luck, opportunity, and chance come to you.

Full Information Acquired

A person feels good when everything is fully understood. All information acquired. The person has the knowledge. The truth is known. All lies are called out. The feeling is free. Relaxation. Relief. Acceptance. It's like small claims court television shows. The judge knows the facts. The judge issues a judgement.

Regardless, the person must keep the door open. Investigations, research, job assignments, plans, due diligence, and learning are examples. New information can be discovered. The full information is incomplete. Mistakes are made. Changes are made. New opinions are expressed. Circumstances alter the knowledge. Facts are questioned. Always keep the eyes, ears, sound, taste, and touch senses open for anything new.

Life Is Not Fair In My Words

"Life is not fair--get used to it." --Bill Gates, 11 Rules For Real Life

A common life knowledge is "life is not fair." Everyone knows it. Some people remember it daily. Some people are numb. Some people ignore it. Some people agree. Some people disagree. I explain "life is not fair" in my words.

Nobody has the right to be happy. Life doesn't care about people's feelings. Life doesn't care about people's successes. Life doesn't care about people's failures. Nobody is entitled to make it. Nobody has the right to be successful. You're a nice person. You're a good worker. You're educated. You're responsible. You obey the laws. Black or white race. Rich or poor family. Male or female gender. So what. Who cares. They don't mean life flows in your favor giving you success. There are exceptions.

There are people who earned their successes. There are people who didn't earn their successes. There are more unearned successful people than you think. Life is not fair. Successes are earned, unearned, given, rewarded, and mistaken. There are good people who worked hard without rewards from life. There are bad people who worked mediocre with rewards from life. Timing and luck are factors in good lives and in bad lives. Anyone who says luck has nothing to do with their successes is lying.

Furthermore, there are too many people. There are too few opportunities to succeed. There are too few opportunities to meet the demand of success. A rising tide raises all boats. Prices increase for the limited opportunities. Prices increase for the chance to be a winner. More people are trying. More people are working. More people are unsuccessful.

The very few talk about life is not fair in dinner tables and parties. Life is not fair is an uncomfortable conversation topic. A group of successful people in any gathering the life is not fair topic is in nobody's minds. Most people take life for granted. Life flows with them. They avoid talking about what happens if the headwinds blow at them. They avoid cursing themselves. They avoid creating bad karma. Unfairness applies to relationships, finances, contests, occupations, and health.

There is a lesson for students who earn straight A's. Life is not perfect. You're not perfect. Life doesn't care. The good life is not straight A's. Study hard. Earn A's. Good things happen is a false lesson. Anything bad can happen. No students earning straight A's are immune to anything bad happening. No students earning straight A's are immune to bad luck and bad timing. Schools fail to teach unfairness. Schools teach ABC's and 123's. Nothing more. Students are responsible for lessons outside the classroom.

I Defend The System

I live in the United States of America. The economy is capitalism. The government is democratic. The criminal justice system is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. I'm the George Costanza in my family. I'm unemployed. I live with my parents. The system fails me. Ironically, I defend the system. The system is unfair. The system is the best in the world. If the system fails or the USA residents live under another system, then there are more people struggling, more families struggling, increase in crimes, wider income inequality, ineffective distribution of goods and services, mismatch allocation of labor and resources, education barriers, social-economic barriers, and lower population growth. The system is not 100% perfect. Nobody is perfect. Nothing is perfect. There are people left out. There are victims of the system. The system fails some people chronically struggling physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and/or financially. I sound like a broken record--life is unfair.

The reader may ask about my job searching. I'm brief. I job search six days a week. My bad luck job interviews is another blog. I job train six days a week.

Destiny, fate, karma, act of God can go with people and can go against people. Life finds a way to help and hurt people beyond their control. People don't control 100% of their lives. There's always a chance something good or something bad happens. Life changes for the better. Life changes for the worse. Most people on planet Earth are good people. The good people don't want anything bad to happen. Bad can happen to good people. Accidents, disasters, destructions, crime victims, losses, disabilities, mistakes, illnesses, etc. Blame life. Life is unfair.

Update On A Past Blog

I wrote another life is unfair blog titled Life Is Unfair There Is Bad Luck on Jan 7, 2018. There are many losers for each winner. People who experience bad luck continue moving forward. Don't stop living. Life can't get worse. Also, the blog foreshadowed the 2018 year. 2018 was my bad luck year.

Moving Forward Maturely

The week of Mon Aug 14, 2023 was one of the worst weeks in recent memory. Muggy hot or high humidity hot weather. Stomach problems. Mosquito bites affected the household for three days. Fewer hours spent job training. Shorter exercise workouts. Computer hardware problems. A minor family emergency. My weekly sleep schedule was altered. I read my book for one day only. There were no ignoring problems.

All of the above was not my fault. It was no human's fault. It was beyond my control. The probability of success to control the uncontrollable was too low. I didn't complain. There was no escaping. I didn't play video games. I didn't eat comfort junk food. I blame life.

Go with the flow was the best choice. Be strong. Be courageous. I accepted the bad week. Each problem solved one at a time. Do something was better than do nothing. Made lemonade out of the non-rotten lemons.

The week of Mon Aug 14, 2023 was a great example of a clique "life goes on." The week was a losing week. Experience experienced. Permanent memory.

It Was My Fault I Made A Mistake

I admit I made a mistake. It was my fault. We were late to a family gathering yesterday at 4:30pm in a restaurant. We arrived at 5:30pm.

I shopped for the second gift in the late morning. I purchased the second gift at the fourth store. What if I purchased the second gift at the first store? The narrative was I found the second gift minutes away from the house. The family schedule followed according to plan. I looked good. Unfortunately, the narrative was too much traveling time and too much shopping time. I rushed eating a late breakfast. I rushed wrapping up the gifts in two boxes. The first gift was purchased weeks before.

In addition, there was bad traffic. There were miscommunications. There were more red signal lights than green signal lights by a two-to-one ratio. I needed to use the bathroom twice. I was told on Thur two days before the family gathering.

It didn't matter the circumstances. I couldn't control the bad timing. I couldn't control the bad luck. I took responsibility. I apologize.

Are We Doing Too Much?

Time is unchanged since time was discovered. There are 60 minutes in one hour. There are 24 hours in one day. There are seven days a week. What is changed? We do more per day. There is more to do. There is too much to do.

Add everything up. We see the results. We experience the results. We witness other people's results. Stress. Overwhelm. Frustration. Mental health is affected such as memory problems and confusion. Physical health is affected such as fatigue and increased sickness. Emotional health is affected such as impatience, more haste, and rudeness. Spiritual health is affected such as less sleep. Financial health is affected spending more money to solve more problems which could have been prevented.

Welcome to today's Information Age life. We are expected to do more with less. We must complete responsibility one. We must complete responsibility two. We must complete responsibility three. We must complete responsibility n. There is a fear of missing out. There is a fear of falling back. There is a fear of being behind. There is a fear of missed opportunities.

There is no right or wrong. Be prepared to accept the sacrifices doing too much. Be prepared to reject the alternatives doing too much. More people are doing too much the bad way. Few people are doing too much the good way.

A Reminder

We forget maintenance. We forget personal checkups. We forget self-care. We forget priorities for which some responsibilities assigned a priority is not a priority. We forget ourselves.

Here is a reminder for those who forgot. Sleep. Eat healthy--avoid the processed foods. Read a book. Breathe. Clean the residence. Listen to music. There is no need to accomplish these every day except meals, breathe, and sleep. These reminders are old school which still works.

Update On A Past Blog

Everyone did everything correctly. Dot the i's. Cross the t's. Triple checked. Support staff proofread. Passed the trials. Unsuccessful at the end. The 2021 Los Angeles Dodgers did everything correctly. The 2021 San Francisco Giants did everything correctly. The start of the second half of the 2021 Major League Baseball season the Dodgers were one game behind the Giants for first place in the National League West Division. The second place Dodgers went 48-21 (.696). The first place San Francisco Giants went 49-22 (.690). The Dodgers gained zero games against the Giants. The Giants prevented the Dodgers from being tied or becoming the second place team winning one more game than the Dodgers. The Dodgers were 100% successful. The Giants were 100% successful. I could switch the order mentioning the Giants first and the Dodgers second. The switch or the reverse is logically correct. I elaborate the teams on Oct 16, 2021 in the blog The 2021 San Francisco Giants 107 Wins Plus 2 Equals 109 Wins. I also mention a counterintuitive decision Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts started a weaker pitcher instead of a stronger pitcher for Game 5 in the National League Division Series because if the Dodgers gave up runs to the Giants, then it's better to give up runs earlier in the game instead of later in the game. There are more innings for the Dodgers to catch up.

Your Hiring Manager Doesn't Train In Excel

The Catch-22 job market interview exists today. How does a job candidate get experience if he or she doesn't get hired to get experience? The Catch-22 job market interview existed yesterday. The Catch-22 job market interview exists tomorrow.

Many white-collar jobs require Excel. Give it time in today's Information Age. Up to 99% of white-collar jobs require Excel. No Excel. No job offer. No X skills. No job offer. Many jobs require past job experience. Hiring managers don't have time to train. It's not the hiring manager's fault. Blame the job market interview system. Blame the Information Age. Blame life. More jobs require more skills. More jobs require more experience. More skills require time to learn. More skills require money to learn. More skills require for more experience. Hiring managers and department co-workers neither have the time nor the patience to train because they have too many responsibilities. The company is unlikely to train because training costs money. There is someone in the job market with the skills and experience. Hire the person. Plug and play. Moreover, it's embarrassing to the job candidate the job description failed to disclose the skills and experience required during the interview process for which the job candidate doesn't have the skills and experience. "Why am I being interviewed," said the job candidate inside his or her head.

There Are Exceptions With Luck

I speak from experience. Job candidates hired may be lucky their hiring manager provides training. I was offered training by my hiring manager for two job interviews for which I was hired in one interview. The job I worked my hiring manager trained me in front-end Salesforce which was easy. The job I didn't work the hiring manager offered training in Salesforce reporting.

I Got Stuff Done Because I Didn't Play Video Games

I'm bored. I'm not bored in a bad way as if I lack motivation. I'm bored in a good way because I completed all tasks. Priorities are accomplished. I'm caught up. There are no new books to read. I plan to buy books on the next free day. I watched the NBA Finals Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics. There are no outstanding blogs. The latest physical workouts are completed. Cooking is done for today and tomorrow. Life skills reviewed. My job skills training is ongoing. There is no rush to finish the big projects. I expect multiple days to learn.

Full Disclosure

I'm retired from playing video games; however, I have been playing classic video games for the first time because of the free time due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. The last video game I played was Call Of Duty: World At War on Mar 2022. The last video game I completed was Final Fantasy VIII on Feb 2022. I completed Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy VII. I played video games in the past. I play video games in the future. I play no video games in the present.

Update On A Past Blog

I wrote another blog on video games titled Video Games Are A Depression on Jul 14, 2021. There's nothing wrong with video games as a leisure activity. Nobody must believe video games cures depression. Nobody must believe video games makes people happy. Video games can be addicting. The depressed person plays video games to be happy. No happiness. The person continues to be depressed. The person plays more video games. The cycle repeats.

I challenge the depressed video gamer to stop playing video games for two weeks. Get up and do something, anything. My suggestions are sleep more hours, eat healthier, learn a new skill, and review an existing skill. Get motivated.

SOMT: The 2022 Business Analyst Is Not The 2007 Business Analyst

Blogger's Note: SOMT stands for Sign Of My Times, an occasional blog sharing my thoughts how time changes life from when I was young to today.

I worked at Cisco as a contractor Business Analyst in 2007. The one job requirement was Crystal Reports. All other job requirements were secondary such as Excel, Word, and Outlook. Times were easier decades ago.

Times have changed. Job requirements have changed. Job expectations have changed. Some business analyst job titles are renamed business analytics. Business Analytics or the like is a fancy way of saying a business analyst with advanced technical skills. I received an email for a fulltime BI Analytics or Business Intelligence Analyst position. The job description is the pic above. Some of today's business analysts require more than Excel, reporting, and analyzing. They require database skills such as SQL and Oracle. They require programming skills such as Python and Java. They require more than basic statistics mean, median, mode, and rank. They require reporting and dashboards software skills such as Tableau and Power BI. Forget Crystal Reports. I see a few positions requiring Linux, HTML, JavaScript, and knowing a text editor. I see a few positions going for the home run requiring supply chain, accounting, and/or finance. On the other hand, I see fewer positions requiring Salesforce. The key skills requirement importance 1-5 might as well be all 5's. The second page is the disclaimer and contact information.

Another change is contractor companies or recruiter companies search for full time employees. Be cautious. Some contractor companies or recruiter companies find job postings online instead of being contracted directly by companies to find a fulltime employee; in other words, unsolicited full-time job candidates. They hope the job candidate is hired for which the company receives compensation. Company career web pages post no third-party recruiters on their job openings.

Dear Abby Advice On Blind Love, Guilt Trip, And Truce On Wedding Day

Here are three recent Dear Abby advice which caught my attention. Some people experience any of three been there and done that.

Apr 21, 2022

Grandson Won't Hear Truth About Girlfriend

DEAR ABBY: My grandson is in a relationship with a girl who manipulates him and abuses him emotionally. I told my grandson what she is doing, but he doesn't see it. Because of that, neither one of them is speaking to me.

My grandson was a caring, happy person until he met her. Now he's withdrawn. He is working, but she is not. They are struggling to make a life for themselves. When I ask how he's doing, he just says OK and nothing more. Is there anything I can do to make him see what she is doing to him? -- IT'S OBVIOUS IN IOWA

DEAR OBVIOUS: No. You have done everything you can by trying to enlighten your grandson, who, it appears, "love" has blinded. Now it's time for you to accept that nothing will change until he wakes up and smells the coffee.

Travel Plans Complicated by Boyfriend's Guilt Trip

DEAR ABBY: My boyfriend is 60 and has an autoimmune disease. He's dependent on oxygen and suffers a great deal. He can drive, walk and care for himself, although I assist in his care quite a bit.

I was invited to take a trip with my daughter and my sisters to London next month for a week. He doesn't want me to go and won't say why, other than he's frustrated because he can't travel abroad. (He would never want to go on a girls trip to London.) He actually told me, "If you really loved me, you wouldn't go." I responded, "If you really loved me, you would be happy for me to go with my family and enjoy the trip for a week."

I cook and clean for him every day. I am the breadwinner and pay for everything. I treat him like a king. What should I do? -- YEARNING FOR TRAVEL

DEAR YEARNING: You do plenty for your boyfriend. He is trying to guilt you into not going. With the load you have been carrying, you deserve a break. Ensure that a friend or family member of his can keep an eye on him in your absence. Then ignore his comments and go on that trip. Please!

Parent Would Rather Skip Son's Wedding

DEAR ABBY: In seven months, my 43-year-old son will be married for the second time. Because of his fiancee's problem drinking, I am absolutely against the marriage. I hate the idea of going to the wedding. Should I go anyway, and have the most miserable day of my life? I doubt that I would be able to hide my sadness. Or should I decline, tell my son I wouldn't be a good guest to have on his happy day and wish them "all the best"? -- HESITATING IN WASHINGTON

DEAR HESITATING: I will assume that your son is aware of your concerns about his fiancee's drinking. Do not boycott this wedding. If you do, you will create a wedge between you and your daughter-in-law that could last for decades. Plaster on a smile and attend so you can wish them all the best in person. Then cross your fingers that your wish comes true.
