Beautiful House On The Outside, Ugliness House On The Inside

I live in a middle-class neighborhood. Quiet. Nice streets. Plenty of street parking. Very little crime. A private elementary school. A small public park. Nearby retail stores and restaurants. Easy access to multiple freeways.

The homes are built in the 1950s, 1970s, and 1980s. One-story homes. Two-story homes. Few homes need major repairs. Few homes fully renovated to today's modern look. Most homes maintain their original build. All homes include front yards and back yards.

I jog around the neighborhood two times a week. I see normal neighborhood behavior. Neighbors interact with other neighbors. Some neighbors are friends. People maintain their gardens. People host gatherings when I see multiple cars parked around the house. People fix cars. Children play in the front yard. Homeowners push their garbage cans to the curb for garbage day. Repair trucks are parked in front of a house. Overall, all homes are beautiful on the outside.

Looks can be deceiving. Open the front door. Enter the house. There may be a different look. There may be a different emotion. Many of these homes have problems can't be seen from the outside. It's hard to believe there's something wrong inside these homes. The ugly problems on the inside. Financial debt. Poor medical health. Parents and children fight. Abuse. Distrust. Poor communication. Dirty, messy, dusty, and smelly by neglecting interior maintenance. Clutter. Poor nutrition. It can be hard to believe something is wrong.

Pencils Are Good

I thought of a silly political movement. Bring back the pencil. There are too many people using pens. There are too many people writing with ink tools. I used a pencil from preschool to 12th grade. The only time I used a pen was English classes. I switched pencils and pens in college. I used pens throughout college. The only time I used a pencil was exams involving numbers including calculus, physics, and economics.

I want people use pencils more. I started using pencils more in Oct 2019. Sharpening your pencils is a positive. It forces people to take a break. Get up from the desk to move. There's something about pencils when people read their own notes in pencils. I can't put it into words. Rough beauty? Pens don't make writing beautiful. Handwriting make writing beautiful. Mechanical pencils are accepted.

Update On A Past Blog

Our past generations were correct regarding exercise and reading books. Prevent physical muscle loss by exercising. Prevent mental brain loss by reading. Exercising and reading are the best ways to maintain strength and intelligence. They maximize transition or application to other activities, functions, and responsibilities. Moreover, aerobic physical exercise benefits mental health, too. Aerobic exercise improves blood flow to the brain. Exercise and reading books can benefit emotional health such as positive behavior, spiritual health such as better sleep, and financial stability such as less time to spend on wasteful goods and services.

The above paragraph applies to three previous blogs on physical fitness and mental fitness. A Garden

My dad and I assisted a family friend with routine garden maintenance. Mowed the lawn. Removed weeds. A lawn mower cut the grass. A weed wacker trimmed the grass edges. A metal rake, shovel, clippers, and loopers were tools to remove weeds. These tools existed at least a century. The front yard is maintained. The front yard is beautiful. Peace is created taking a break from today's Information Age. Effective time spent outdoors. The life lessons gardening are patience, take it one at a time, and breathe.

24. Why Worry? (1923). A Harold Lloyd and Jobyna Ralston classic.

23. Some Like It Hot (1959). Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon are the names. A comedy and a musical.

22. Modern Times (1936). My only Charlie Champlin movie I watched. No need for green screens. The rush society in the 1930s was a turtle compared to today's rush society.

21. Psycho (1960). An Alfred Hitchcock classic. The ending twist is fantastic.

20. Mr. Smith Goes To Washington (1939). My second James Stewart movie. The politics in the 1930s were the same today.

19. It Happened One Night (1934). Clark Gable stood his ground. You may not laugh out loud during the comedy scenes. A funny romantic comedy a family enjoys.

18. Harvey (1950). James Stewart could do comedy.

17. The Grapes Of Wrath (1940). The movie about the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl did a good job adapting 67% of the book written by John Steinbeck. The ending in the movie was not the ending in the book.

16. Schindler's List (1993). It's bad timing Liam Neeson who played Oskar Schindler lost to Tom Hanks from Philadelphia for best actor. The movie should have double best supporting actor nominations Ralph Fiennes as Amon Goeth and Ben Kingsley as Itzhak Stern.

15. Raging Bull (1980). A movie where a person is the best at something and the best at being a terrible person. Robert DeNiro won an Oscar for best actor.

14. The Philadelphia Story (1940). My first Cary Grant movie. The movie included one of the greatest of all time actor James Stewart and actress Katharine Hepburn. It should be a movie all student actors and student actresses watch.

13. All About Eve (1950). A movie about a fictional biography of a successful Broadway star. The movie watchers realize she's ruthless.

12. Seven Samurai (1954). A poor village hires samurais without pay to protect them from bandits. I watched the movie in two days.

11. Roman Holiday (1953). My critical opinion is Gregory Peck didn't have enough charism. Audrey Hepburn won Best Actress.

10. Metropolis (1927). A science fiction classic with no time boundaries. The futuristic city with dividing social classes. A four star movie.

9. The Apartment (1960). It's all about affairs and adultery in a comedy and romantic way. They existed in the 1960s. They exist today.

7. Young Frankenstein (1974). I read the book by Mary Shelley and the 1931 movie before watching Young Frankenstein. Hilarious.

6. Rebecca (1940). A classic psychological thriller. Maybe horror. An early black and white mind twist movie. The only Alfred Hitchcock movie to win an Academy Award for Best Picture.

5. Sunset Blvd. (1950). I heard students majoring in film watch the movie in their undergraduate classes.

4. To Kill A Mockingbird (1962). There is a reason why Gregory Peck portraying Atticus Finch won an Academy Award for Best Actor. Finch was a model strong man and strong father.

3. Paper Moon (1973). Father Ryan O'Neal and daughter Tatum O'Neal are the lead actors. Tatum won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at age 10. She's the youngest to win an Oscar as of today.

2. 12 Angry Men (1957). If your date says 12 angry men is about a movie about 12 angry men, then end the date immediately.

1. Casablanca (1942). Too many movie quotes: Louie, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship; Here's looking at you, kid; Play it once, Sam; We'll always have Paris.

New freckles or life marks appear on my face. Life marks is a common slang. They're hard to see in the quick on-the-fly selfie. Some existing bumps or brown colored scars are growing in size. The bumps are prominent on both sides of my face between the ears and eyes. I hate them. I live with them in the meantime. I want treatment. I wait for full medical coverage. There must be new treatments today compared to 2009. I hope the new treatments reduce pimples and blackheads for which they still appear.

I use Burt's Bee lip balm when I jog outside. I don't remember the last time I applied facial cream to my face after the Accutane Day 4,336 blog written on Jan 2, 2021.

I like my egg shaped face today compared to the rounder face in Mar 2009. I look better smile or no smile.

The 10 Percent Physical Is Much Bigger With 90 Percent Mental

A common success formula is 10% physical and 90% mental. The formula applies to sports, to many physical activities, and professional action activities. The 10% physical mathematically speaking is 10% out of 100%. However, the 10% is much bigger conceptually speaking.

Many people believe mental health is the most important in a human. Many people say good mental status is the top priority. A common knowledge mind, body, and spirit are important for a successful life. Many people neglect body and spirit. My easy definition of spirit is sleep. Sleep eight hours a night.

I speak counterintuitively. The body or the physical is below the brain. The physical or the body is the most important. I include oral hygiene, bathing, grooming, and body nurturing as part of them. A poor physical health makes mental health maintenance difficult. Exercise. Eat healthy. Minimize processed foods. Do all the above sincerely. Motivation is strengthen. The chances of depression decrease. Never stop learning. Innovate infinitely. Earn happiness with courage.

The person's look doesn't lie. The physical appearance tells the truth. The story is told by presentation.

Matching Connections Between People Get Along With Each Other

I dreamed last night I played softball at a privately owned softball park. The softball park consisted of many softball fields, batting cages, a soccer field, and a central building for administrative, operations, and a cafeteria.

The first part of the dream I played in the left outfield. Each team required four outfields. I played between the true left fielder and center fielder. No balls went my way. The left fielder was a grade school child. He caught all the fly balls hit his way. He fielded all the ground balls hit his way. The game ended. The grade school child was recruited for another softball team.

The second part of the dream I wondered around looking for a team who needed an outfielder. I found another team. There was a two minute interview. The team accepted me. The weirdness was the second game I played was inside the narrow rectangular office suites of an industrial building. The entrance of the office suite or the reception was the infield. The first office suite with no windows was the shallow outfield. The second office suite with windows at the back was the deep outfield. The captain, vice-captain, and I played the outfield at the second office suite. There was a fourth outfield who didn't appear in my dream.

The game started. The team played poorly. All three of us couldn't catch fly balls defensively. The team couldn't get on base offensively. It was three batters up and three batters down. The opposition scored runs without problems. There was in-team fighting and arguing. I asked the umpire named Mr. RR about the maximum seven runs scored per inning rule in the middle of the game. The umpire acknowledged the rule. The opposition scored seven runs in their inning. The umpire told the captain of the opposing team to switch sides. The captain was angry.

There was enough time in the one hour of gameplay for the final four batters to step up to the plate. I was batter number ten. I hoped at least of the three reached base for me to bat. The opposition didn't send a pitcher. Mr. RR pitched for the opposition. One of the three batters reached second base on a double. I approached the batter's box. Mr. RR gave me a wink. The first pitch was in the middle of the plate. I hit the ball deep to the outfield or the second office suite for a two run inside the park home run. The team celebrated at home plate and at the dugout like we won the championship. The game ended. I woke up.

I finished the dream consciously lying on my bed. The team went to the central building cafeteria. We ate pizza. We drank beer. There were smiles. There was socializing; although, some of the conversations was drunk talk. There was singing. There was joy. Everyone connected. I established the connections. It took one action to combine a group of people. It took one event to bring togetherness. It took one moment to be together. It took one person to spark a group of people to become together.

Point Blank Movie 5,464 Days Later

I can't explain why I watched the movie decades later. I watched Point Blank (1967) starring Lee Marvin tonight. The movie is part of a three DVD box set I purchased at the Chronicles Of Crime store in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada on Nov 18, 2008. The other two DVDs are The Departed (2006) and Bullitt.

The Departed (2006) starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, and Mark Wahlberg. The movie won four Oscars including Best Picture at the 79th Academy Awards on Feb 25, 2007. Bullitt stared Steve McQueen. The movie included one of the best car chase scenes in movie history. The two cars were Bullitt's 1968 Ford Mustang 390 GT and the bad guys' 1968 Dodger Charger 400 Magnum in San Francisco, CA.

The Point Blank movie reminded me of another decades old purchase. I wrote The Big Book Of Beatrix Potter 5,902 Days Later on Nov 16, 2021. I purchased the book on Sep 2, 2005 at Half Price Books in Washington state. I finished the book on Oct 30, 2021.

I can't explain why I read the book decades later. I purchased the book containing 19 stories including Peter Rabbit on Sep 2, 2005 at Half Price Books in Washington state. I finished the book on Sat Oct 30, 2021. Some of the children short stories are good. Some of the children short stories are boring. I enjoyed all of the art. Peter Rabbit, Squirrel Nutkin, Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, Jemima Puddle-Duck, and Johnny Town-Mouse tales are my favorites.

Helen Beatrix Potter was born on Jul 28, 1866 and died on Dec 22, 1943. She was an English writer and illustrator. Potter self-published the successful The Tale of Peter Rabbit book. Potter began writing and illustrating children's books full-time thereafter. Her art was influenced by owning pets, spending holidays in Scotland observing animals and landscapes, and studying watercolors.

Top Ten Plus Three Equals Thirteen I'm In The Minority Opinions

Expressing our opinions is a basic human right. Good people listen to opinions. Good people respect other people's opinions. There are opinions in the majority. There are opinions in the minority. I share my opinions I believe I'm in the minority. One opinion I'm in the minority is people experience racism, discrimination, and prejudice daily. The three exists today. The three existed yesterday. The three exists tomorrow. Racism, discrimination, and prejudice continue throughout history indefinitely.

13. If you don't have the money and don't have the future income, then don't have children. The costs of raising children go up every year. A family is too expensive. Condoms are cheaper than diapers. Parents don't need a PS5. Parents need long-term stable income.

12. A common health knowledge is eat five fruits and vegetables a day. I eat three fruits and vegetables a day. Another common health knowledge is drink eight glasses of water a day. I drink water when I'm thirsty. I'm the healthiest ever. The two common health knowledge are marketing and too easy health advice.

11. Men's And Women's Bare Necessities. Men can use women's bare necessities. Women can use men's bare necessities. For example, I use women's body wash.

10. Weigh Yourself Daily. Body weight is an indicator of your present health status. Weighing yourself daily is not weakening your self-esteem; on the other hand, it may motivate you to live a healthy life.

It's better to be single than in a mis-match relationship. Many people choose to be with someone even by dumbing down themselves to avoid loneliness. Don't disrespect yourself. There is strength, courage, and wisdom to be single. Don't lose self-respect to be in a relationship.

Moreover, I repeat number five. Your inside and your outside are equally important. Physical appearance is important. We do judge a book by its cover.

3. All schools add an extra year. Elementary school pre-kindergarten is mandatory before kindergarten. Junior high school add a fourth year for grades 6-9. High school add a fifth year for grades 10-14. There is too much to learn. Expectations are too high. Students need more time. Parents, school administrators, and the government need more patience.

There are people who fail no matter what. There are unsuccessful people no matter what. Many works hard and follow their dreams. Few succeed. Many times something happens beyond their control they become unsuccessful. Blame life. Life is not fair.

The Look

I dreamed last night Palo Alto Police staged a rescue in a courthouse in California. My position was inside the courthouse. The courthouse was like a junior college student union. The rescue was actually a contest. Each two person team was given 18 pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. Each piece was the size of a square. My partner did almost all the work. I matched two pieces doing nothing. One of my two pieces was actress Reese Witherspoon. Otherwise, I'm the poster detective promoting the Palo Alto Police Department. A misallocation of resources. My talents were wasted.

The dream, logically or illogically, inspires me the write today's blog on the look. The person has the look of *fill in the blank*. High confidence in *fill in the blank* is correct. The late Steve Jobs said we do judge a book by its cover. We judge a person by his or her looks. Anyone saying otherwise is lying. We judge consciously or unconsciously. We evaluate a person by appearance. The person has the geek look. The person has the athletic appearance. The person dresses like an administrative assistant. The person's clothes communicate a professional model. The physical appearance identifies a carpenter. Another physical appearance identifies a doctor. The look is a police officer. Losers have their own look. There are exceptions such as actors and actresses doing their jobs, con artists, masters of disguise, and people being in a bad mood. Guesses are highly accurate for which an amateur profiler can guess accurately.

We can change our look. We can change from the inside to the outside. We can change from the top to the bottom. The change must be honest. The change must be sincere. Physical, mental, clothes, friends, hobbies, career, and everything else to be the truth. No more tricks. No more fake smiles. No more hiding.

No more meth drug look. No more alcoholic look. No more work stress look. No more doing nothing look. No more "you look terrible" or "what happened to you" look in a negative way. Say yes to "you're good looking." Say yes to more "you look great. What changed?"

A 46 Year Old Mind And Spirit Inside A 13 Year Old Body

I dreamed last night my adult mind and adult spirit was inside a preteen boy. Warped to the past. Transferred to the past. Reincarnated to the past. Transported to another universe. Slid to another dimension. Traveled permanently to another world. The reader can make up any verb.

I was in eighth grade at my actual same junior high school. The class was physical education (PE). The PE teachers combined the boys and girls for co-ed basketball. The class was held in the cafeteria which was also the gym. The boys and girls lined up. The coaches randomly assigned the boys and girls to teams. I maintained my mind and spirit as a 46 year old on planet Earth on January 9, 2021 throughout the team selection. I asked myself in the back of my head, "What's going on here? Why am I back in junior high?" I reminded myself I know Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors, Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar being the NBA's all-time scoring leader.

I was selected in team #3. My team played poorly. We didn't play as a team. We were confused. Nobody knew how to play basketball. I took charge. I became like Draymond Green of the Warriors. I directed my team to play offense and play defense. I played like Curry shooting long range shots and passing to open players.

I became popular during the lunch hour. I went to the outdoor basketball courts after I ate lunch at the benches. I talked with my classmates on random topics. Students came up to me asking how to play basketball. Two particular students thanked me and bowed to me as if I'm their grandfather.

My philosophical question is the following: Are genius people geniuses being possessed from another person's mind and spirit? Any person with past knowledge and past experience has an advantage.

My face continues to get more spots which I call freckles or life marks. The common slang is life marks. I use Burt's Bee lip balm when my lips are dried. No facial cream applied to my face in the Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 months.

My face looks handsome after every shave. Some of my pores or acne scars disappear after every shave in the morning. The evening the pores or acne scars reappear. Maybe my eyes are deceiving me. I don’t know why.

I want another Accutane treatment because bumps are reappearing on both sides of my face near my ears. I wait for full medical coverage to pursue treatment. There must be new treatments today compared to 2009.

Unreported 99.9999999…% Times

Today's blog is another reminder life goes on. We make stories every day. 99.9999999…% of all stories are unreported for every 24 hour period. These are the stories nobody knows. The news don't report them. The news misinforms the truths. Every second we breathe something good happens. A couple falls in love. A person is cured from cancer. A person recovers from COVID-19. A person fixes a car. A person's investments are in the positive. A person is hired for a new job. A person earned a promotion. A person graduated from college. A couple becomes parents for the first time. A person purchased a new computer. A group of friends celebrate their sports team winning a game. A felon is released from jail completing the sentence. A professional singer signs his or her first record deal. A first responder succeeds in saving a life. These are good moments.

Every second we breathe something bad happens. A couple is divorced. A person is diagnosed with cancer. A person died from COVID-19. A person's car breaks down. A person's investments are in the negative. A person is laid-off from a company he or she worked for decades. Another person earned a promotion for which he or she didn't deserve. A person flunked out from college. A couple loses a baby from a miscarriage. A person's computer broke. A group of friends are sad their sports team lost a game. A criminal defendant becomes a convicted felon for the first time. A professional singer is rejected from a record company. A first responder fails in saving a life. These are the bad moments.

Moreover, there are bad happenings neither reported from traditional media nor the plethora of online media. Depression, police racial injustice against Blacks, crimes committed from suspects with mental illnesses, mentally ill non-criminal people no longer taking their medications causing problems with their families and/or friends, and clean and sober people relapsing.

Life is unfair. Life moves forward. Nobody's perfect. Tomorrow is another day. Don't take life for granted. Be grateful. Life can be better. Life can be worse. These sentences are clique. These sentences are simple. These sentences are true.

Finally, I watched the Steve Jobs and Bill Gates interview at the D5 Conference in 2007 after I read his biography years later. Jobs answered a question from the audience about legacy:

"I sort of look at us as two of the luckiest guys (Steve Jobs and Bill Gates) on the planet cause we found what we loved to do. And we were at the right place at the right time. We gotten to go to work every day with super bright people for 30 years, and do what we love doing. It's hard to be happier than that. Your family and that. What more can you ask for? So, I don't think about legacy that much. I just think about being able to get up every day and go in and hang around these great people and hopefully create something that other people will love as much as we do. And if we can do that, that's great.

"People say you have to have a lot of passion for what you're doing. And it's totally true. And the reason is because it's so hard that if you don't, any rational person would give up. It's really hard. And you have to do it over a sustained period of time. So if you don't love it, if you're not having fun doing it, you don't really love it, you're gonna give up. And that's what happens to most people actually. If you really look at the ones that ended up being successful *in air quotes* in the eyes of society, and the ones that didn't, oftentimes, it's the ones that are successful loved what they did so they can persevere when it got really tough, and the ones that didn't love it quit cause they're sane. Right? Who want to put up with this stuff if you don't love it. So, it's a lot of hard work. And it's a lot of worrying constantly. And if you don't love it, you're going to fail. So you gotta love it. You got to have passion. And I think that's the high order albeit.
