2005 Is A Year Of Firsts

The year 2005 is a year of firsts for me. My first Blog, first time cosplaying, first time I hosted a panel, and many others. To continue my firsts, tomorrow I’m going to Washington and Canada. It’s going to be my first time I visit my friend in his hometown and visit a foreign country. My vacation starts on Saturday August 27 and I return home on Saturday September 3.

I share the highlights daily if I have Internet access and time to write. My friend planned all the activities and the time table. During the vacation, I’m going to take a lot of pictures. I plan to share the best pictures on my webpage. Stay tuned XD

There Is Always Something To Do

Tired? Bored? Stressed? Want to do something else besides the usual stuff? (Bare with me. I get to the point.) Don’t want to watch TV because it’s a waste of time or there is nothing to watch? Don’t want to sit around doing nothing? Well, then . . . do something lighthearted.

One of my hobbies is Japanese Anime, and one of my all time favorite anime series is Fullmetal Alchemist. On Sunday evening, after updating my webpage which took more time that I thought, I was tired, bored, and stressed. Yes, stressed :-p I wanted to do something that required little brain power. I wanted to do something so I don’t waste time.

I found something which was to look at the Fullmetal Alchemist Official Fanbook Number 3 and Number 4. I purchased the books in March and never had time to look at them. Great choice! Looking at the books was relaxing, required little brain power, and I didn’t waste time. By the way, I can’t read Japanese. I can only look at the pictures ;-)

There is always something to do. Here are some ideas to consider if you are one of those who hate wasting time and want to do something relaxing which requires little brain power:

  • Rearrange the book shelf. If you have a cluttered book shelf, rearrange it. While rearranging, you are likely to open a few books which is good because it’s fun to remember something you read in the past.
  • Listen to old CDs. Do you have CDs in the 1990s? Remember the 90s or 80s or 70s or . . . .
  • Look at an old photo album.
  • Do something on the bottom of your to-do list. There must be a reason why it’s on the bottom of the to-do list XD

No matter the time, place, or location, there is always something to do. Even thinking about the next day is something. Even daydreaming is something. How about taking a nap? Naps are good (-,-)

I Promise My Last Entry On My Sickness . . . How To Reduce The Chances Getting Sick Next Time

The last two days were incredible. I feel sooooo much better the last two days. I’m still taking Vitamin C, drinking green tea, and I started drinking ginger ale and taking Tylenol Cold and Allergy once a day. I feel upbeat, except now I’m at work getting wacky assignments. I feel better when the workday ends.

O.K. How do you reduce the chances of getting sick. The common sense is stay away from people getting sick, keep yourself warm in cold days (although some medical experts says doing this doesn’t prevent getting some kind of virus), drink water daily, eat healthy and exercise, and there are a ton more. Those common sense factors are controllable. The key word is “controllable.” The more you control yourself given the surroundings which includes the people you are with, the food you eat, your exercise schedule, how hot and how cold you are, you can reduce your chances of getting sick. Here are some examples I got and sick and what I learned,

August 2005: My family reunion most of the family were in the living room with the air condition on. The air condition did a terrible job cooling the room. What made me sick was the stagnant, warm air. I should have opened the windows and turn on the fans to circulate the air.

August 2003: I went to my attic to use some old packaging material to ship goods I sold on eBay. The packaging material was full of dust. What made me sick was I inhaled a big amount as I was unfolding the packaging material. I should have used a dust mask and blow of the dust using an air compressor. Better yet, I should have tossed the packaging material in the garbage and purchase new ones.

December 2001: I went to an arcade with a friend on New Year’s Eve. The arcade had poor circulation and it was really hot with the arcade machines, even when I took off my jacket. What made me sick was I was dehydrated. I should have drink water to keep me hydrated.

July 2000: San Jose experienced unseasonable cold temperatures. I slept with the windows fully open and no blankets. The next day I was shivering and had a sore throat. What made me sick was the unseasonable cold temperature at night. I should have informed myself of the changes of weather. If I knew the night temperature was going to be cold, I closed the windows and put on blankets.

January 1998: I ate spicy pizza at a pizza place my family got for free because the pizza place was sponsoring an event. The next day I had a sore throat. What made me sick was the spicy pizza for which I didn’t drink any soda. I should have drink soda instead of water. I know you are supposed to drink water; unfortunately, somehow the water didn’t work. Since then, when I eat spicy food, I drink soda and never became sick since due to spicy food. I do drink water afterwards.

October 1998: My favorite and most memorable. I was attending a gaming convention. In the game room, I was playing a board game and having so much fun I never realized the room was warm and I never realized I didn’t drink water the entire day. One of the attendees was gracious to purchase pizza. The pizza was not spicy. Somehow the spices got me but didn’t make me thirsty. What made me sick was the pizza that made me thirsty for which I didn’t drink anything and I didn’t even drink anything at all. I should have purchased bottle water because the room was warm and I should have drink soda when I was eating pizza.

One more tip. Drink green tea everyday. I started drinking green tea in September 2003. So far, I only got sick once in August 2005, and the sickness was minor because I didn’t have to see the doctor *knock on wood*

What the hell? I'm sooo tired?!? (-,-)

Last week, I was sick with a sore throat, itchy throat, and fatigue. I hoped this week is much better. I'm continuing to drink green tea, take vitamin C, gargle with salt water, take it easy, and try to get extra sleep.

Today at work there were lots of assignments. Around 3:00 P.M. I made a lot of mistakes. (Does it happen to you that when you make mistakes, they happen in bunches? It happens to me.) After being pissed off, I became light-headed. I realized I was tired—really tired. I had 7 hours of sleep last night. Maybe I'm still not recovered from being sick last week. Man, I hate being sick :-(

I wanted to share what happened at work today. I did complete most brokers' requests; unfortunately, I didn't get any personal responsibilities completed. I hope tomorrow is less hectic and an easier day for me given how I feel the last two weeks >__<

BTW, 98.5 KFOX is having their annual marathon playing all of their classical rock music in their library by title alphabetically from Z to A. I am listening currently and for the last two weeks, especially at work since my co-worker is on vacation. It's awesome!

Always Protect Your Precious Belongings

** Note: The blog was supposed to be uploaded on Sunday August 7, 2005. Unfortunately, I was sick and didn't update my blog for most of the week. The blog should have been uploaded Sunday afternoon around 2:00 P.M.. **

My family reunion continues today eating Dim Sim for lunch. The weather was very warm and I went to the market to purchase some bottle water. After I left the supermarket, I realized on my laptop bag that my Edward Elric keychain was missing. I thought it was stolen because there was crowd at the entrance and my laptop was exposed to the people. I was not really mad. I was sad—sad that it was gone :-(

Oh my gosh! There is a family with two kids across from me as I wait outside the restaurant. I can't believe it. The kid has my Edward Elric keychain. I asked the parents where they found the keychain. They said it was on the ground. I told them I lost the Edward Elric keychain. Without hesitation, they returned it. It was awesome. I never experienced anyone being really honest to me. I'm always honest to other people. It never happened to me. I felt really happy. To prove my sincerity, I even offered a reward. They refused. And I showed them the desktop which has a picture of Edward Elric. Thank you to the family and their two kids. And as a side note, their kids have been finding stuff on the floor recently including a Teletubbie.

I'm still trying to explain how the Edward Elric keychain came off. The keychain is secured along the clips of the adjustable shoulder strap.

It’s An Example Of Going Back To The Basics

Yesterday and today my family and I are having a family reunion. My cousins and I played Super Smash Brothers for the Nintendo Game Cube. I rarely played the game and I stink. The only character I know how to play is Pikachu. When I played with my cousins, I was terrible. Really terrible :-<

When my cousins went back to the hotel, I practiced for two hours. I did the training mode, I re-read the instruction manual on basic movements and special movements for the Pikachu character. After the practice, I remembered many of the moves and basic strategies. Granted it’s not a guarantee I win every match; however, I have a much better fighting chance to win more matches and place first.

Granted also I played the two hours in the late hours playing a video game. Come on, don’t I have something better else to do. Yeah, I do; however, I rarely play the GameCube and I consider it an opportunity to play during the free time. And it reminds me that when you are in a jam, go back to the basics. Read some books, remember the successes, call people if needed, do something basic to remind you and/or to learn something new to get out of a jam—to solve the problem.

100% Success Rate To Keep The Toilet Seat Down

Guys who live with at least one female in the household including wives, girlfriends, daughters, female friends, female roommates, etc., I have a tip to keep the toilet seat down with a 100% successful rate. For those guessing, you may have said to keep the seat down during all “toilet transactions.” The answer is correct: Keep The Toilet Seat Down! When you need to pee, do it as if you are taking a crap.

Here are the benefits to keeping the toilet seat down,

1. The seat is always down. No need to take extra steps to lift the seat up and lift the seat down. AND you never need to remember “Did I put the seat down?”
2. Minimal splash damage. When peeing in the “sit-down” position, the pee is going directly into the bowl. There is minimal splash damage along the rim of the toilet. It’s gross to see pee splash damage along the rim =__=
3. Great impression. The females in the household think that you have a great memory you always keep the seat down.
4. If there is a power outage or not enough lighting, by sitting down and peeing there is no need to worry about peeing outside the toilet causing a mess because you can’t see your “aim.”

The downside is you lower your pants down to pee. And one may think that sitting down to pee is not being a Man. I think a Man is a person who always keep the seat down for the ladies in the household, and I think it’s a great impression for your number one woman!

My First Blog

Hello, everyone. My first Blog. Awesome! Unfortunately, this is not the first Blog almost nobody wants to write, but I want to. It’s something I want to share with everyone.

On Monday evening around 11:00 A.M., a bunch of kids supposedly having nothing to do took a neighbor’s recycling bin and dumped the bin and the contents in front of my house and the street. According to two witnesses, the kids were driving, and one of them held the recycling bin as the car was driving fast. The kid let go of the bin and the bin and its contents scattered around the street in front of my house. Fortunately, there was no damage.

I called police and their response was the event was a nuisance which happens almost nightly. The police offered to file a report. I refused because the incident didn’t warrant police involvement. My Dad and I took 15 minutes to clean up the mess. The stolen bin’s neighbor was informed. (As I went through the recyclables, one can really learn who people are, man. Maybe it’s worth getting a shredder . . . a good, long lasting shredder.)

Kids, this is summer vacation. Please don’t waste your time causing nuisances. There are lots to do: play poker, rent a DVD, read a book to prepare for your future even if you have no idea because maybe the book you read is going to give you an idea, learn how to make a webpage, host a BBQ . . . just do something.

I promise my second Blog is going to be an example of me Innovating Common Knowledge. Thank you for reading and please come back soon.
