I Was Lonely, I Fell Through The Cracks, Everyone Let Me Go

Today's blog is an update on a past blog. I write more reasons why growing up too late was not my fault.

Update On A Past Blog

Growing Up Too Late Was Not My Fault was a blog written on Nov 14, 2015 assuring my past problems delayed adult maturity. I'm lucky. I grew up on Sat Oct 4, 2008. I'm responsible for my life. I'm responsible to solve my problems. I'm responsible to earn my successes. I continue catching up what I missed in my younger years. All is forgiven. Here are more reasons why I grew up too late:

Wilson Elementary School. I remember the three below in pre-school:

*School bus. I rode the school bus which was a van. The van was marked school bus with the yellow and black colors, long length seats, and red flashing lights. All the students didn't wear seat belts. My mom said the first day of school she and my baby brother rode the school bus because I was scared.
*Time out. I cried a lot during the beginning of the school year. I was frustrated I cried and took my bagged school lunch and hid in the time out section one day. I didn't have a kid lunch box. The time out section was a red and white color gymnastics floor mat inverted to form an enclosed section with a desk facing the wall in the classroom.
*Miss Sue. She was my red hair teacher. I believed she quit on me. I was a lost cause. Miss Sue taught the students who were more likely to succeed.

Wilson closed on June 30, 1989 according to the California Department Of Education School Directory. The school opened on July 1, 1980. I attended Wilson in 1978-1979. Either the website is incorrect or Wilson was a private school before it became public. The school buildings no longer exist. It was demolished to build homes.

Reading Lab. I had reading comprehension problems. I attended a reading lab in first grade, fifth grade, and sixth grade. I'm not sure I attended a reading lab in second grade; although, I remember going to a big room multiple times where a teacher taught by flash cards. I remember the teachers: first grade was Mrs. Jones, fifth grade was Miss Smith, and six grade was Mrs. Kumagai. The reading labs didn't help me. I realized my reading comprehension problems was poor short-term memory. I read a sentence. I forgot what I read immediately many times.

The Rest Of My School Teachers. I slipped through the cracks. The teachers quit on me like Miss Sue. The teachers gave up. I was a lost cause. No motivation. No desire. Impatient. The teachers focused their time on students who could be saved. It was an example of life is not fair.

Little Parent Involvement. I repeat the Too much fun from the Growing Up Too Late Was Not My Fault blog. I had too much fun. I had too little learning.

Piano Teachers Quit. My mom forced me, my brother, and my sister to play the piano. It was not the piano teachers fault I played poorly. I hated piano. I didn't practice enough. I realized I'm partially tone deaf. I couldn't comprehend the loud sounds and soft sounds. I have small hands. Reaching the keys were difficult.

Side note 1: The best deal my mom didn't take. I made a deal to my mom I learn swimming, I learn Chinese, I take summer school, and I participate in anything in exchange for no piano lessons. She refused the deal. I wonder how my life changed if I was active in all of the above except piano--less fun and more learning.

Side note 2: I can't swim because I can't tread water. I have a buoyancy problem. I sink no matter how I'm taught treading water.

Side note 3: The Chinese class was taught on Friday nights. Friday nights!?! Who wanted to teach a class on Friday nights!?!

My Managers. I performed my jobs with outstanding results even though my flaws were obvious. Management believed don't touch me. Management accepted my flaws. Management ignored my problems hoping they solve by themselves. Nobody wanted to help me solve my problems. Nobody wanted to help fix my flaws.

I compensate my learning problems taking control, finding solutions, and going back to the past. My short-term memory problems are solved by writing notes to remember names, facts, instructions, future blogs, new knowledge learned, appointments, and tasks.

I learn by repetition. I learn by practice. I learn by drilling. I earned higher grades every time I followed the procedure in school. I earned lower grades every time I didn't follow the procedure in school. I wished somebody confirmed the repetition, practicing, and drilling when I was young. Everyone learns differently. Write notes, repetition, practice, and drill are how I learn when I learn new job skills, review existing job skills, learn life skills, and review life skills learned. The new job skills I have been learning include R, Python, and Linux. The existing job skills I have been practicing include Excel, SQL, and Power BI. The new life skills I learn and I practice include tying knots, sewing a button, cooking new meals, and folding clothes quickly.

Everyone Gets A Piece Of The Pie

The Los Angeles Angels fired visiting clubhouse manager Brian "Bubba" Harkins in Mar 2020. Harkins worked with the Angels since 1990. A visiting clubhouse manager and his staff prepare equipment and uniforms for the players before the game starts. Also, a visiting clubhouse manager is like a hotel concierge.

Harkins provided a "foreign substance" for pitchers to improve their control pitching the baseball. Harkins was taught how to make the "foreign substance" by Angels' pitcher Troy Percival 20 years ago. The substance was available by request. Most pitchers and coaches paid Harkins to cover the costs. No profit was made. Any "foreign substance" on a baseball or doctoring is against baseball rules. Pitchers were quoted Major League Baseball (MLB) allowed doctoring for at least a century. However, the middle of 2021 MLB announced umpires search suspected pitchers for any "foreign substance." Pitchers caught with a "foreign substance" are suspended. No pitcher has been terminated for cheating.

Harkins filed lawsuit against the Angels and MLB for defamation and being the scapegoat on Aug 2020. The Angels and MLB filed a motion for dismissal on Nov 2020. The Orange County Superior Court dismissed the lawsuit on Jan 2021.

Equal Access

My response is the "foreign substance" is open to everyone. Everyone gets access. All pitchers are included. All MLB teams are included. No pitcher wants to exclude another pitcher because the pitcher may get angry. The angry pitcher tells MLB officials the illegal activity even though MLB doesn't enforce the rules. The piece of the pie is available. All parties are satisfied. Everyone is happy at the end of the day.

Update On A Past Blog

Today's blog contradicts The Size Of The Pie Is Still The Same on Jun 23, 2016. I wrote there are too many people living on Earth. The size of the pie doesn't increase to accommodate the increasing amount of people. More people don't get a piece of the pie. A genius can solve the problem by eliminating greed.

The Jul 15, 2019 blog Too Many People was about a church building 44 affordable apartment units. The church received over 5,000 applications. The 44 unit pie didn't increase.

A Procedure To Stop Insanity

There are many mismatches in life 24 hours a day. There is a mismatch every second. A first date ends up as the only date because the couple are incompatible. A job candidate being interviewed is rejected because the candidate and the hiring manager disagree. The man shopping for a SUV car doesn't like the weak engine. The woman shopping for a dress doesn't like the design. The oldest child chooses ballet over football. The younger child chooses baseball over sewing. One worker is good an engineering. Another worker is good at medical.

We are different. We have different jobs for different people. We have different education for different people. We are different physically, mentally, emotionally, financial, and spiritually. We have different hobbies. We have different opinions. A mismatch is a difference.

There is nothing wrong. We are individuals. There are conflicts. There are rebels. Trial and error. A mistake is a result. Something is wrong. No match. There is failure. Try again. Move on. Do something else. A mismatch is a feeling. A mismatch is a logical equation. A mismatch is a conclusion. All of the above can happen. Insanity is continuing the present path hoping for a perfect match. Sanity is changing the present path to a perfect match.

Update On A Past Blog

My parents are overprotective. My parents ignore the adult life lessons. My parents avoid serious life discussions. No life wisdom is shared; however, their wisdom is poor honestly speaking. My parents ignore my problems hoping they disappear. Fortunately, I solve most of my problems myself. The cost is I matured at a later age. Sex, penis, vagina, money, divorce, abuse, human relationships, motivation, swear words, life skills, etc. are silent. I blogged the Top Ten Lessons My Parents Failed To Teach Me on May 2, 2013 including household chores, cooking, and being professional. On the other hand, I blogged My Parents Raised My Correctly on Feb 15, 2015 such as don't smoke, buy on sale, and focus on the basics. I wrote two blogs on most of the problems I solved myself which are Top Ten Don't Be My Parents on Mar 17, 2020 and Top Ten Lessons I Learned The Hard Way on Jun 23, 2019. Some of the best problems I solved are don't take life for granted, don't hoard, never stop meeting new people, and never stop learning.

Exercise For Balance

The Sep 2021 Costco Connection included an articled titled "Avoiding A Fall" by George Locker. Locker wrote seniors can prevent falling down to avoid injuries by exercising. Exercise prevents imbalance. Exercise requires use of muscles which keeps a person balanced. Use your muscles or lose your muscles.

I want to prevent performing the exercises on the top of the two pages from the pic above when I'm old. The common reasons people exercise are healthy weight, strong muscles, sharpen focus, flexibility, delay aging, and reduce stress. Add maintain balance to the common reasons why people exercise. I don't want to be sedentary who needs walking equipment.

A Pain In The Neck

Two attributes important to live an independent life or live with freedom are responsibility and motivation. Be responsible to complete assignments. Be motivated to work on assignments. Responsibility and motivation require little intelligence. Completing assignments increase intelligence. Avoid being too patient to get to work. Don't take too long--no relaxing too much, no lingering, and no lollygagging. Also, be decisive. Choose a plan. Stick with the plan. A responsible person is not a pain in the neck. A motivate person is not a pain in the neck. Today's blog is easy to comprehend. Don't be a pain in the neck.

A Loser Is Pissed At People Who Screw It Up

My regular readers know I'm a George Costanza. I'm unemployed and I live with my parents. However, I ask who are the real losers? Are the real losers people like me or people who are independent screwing it up?

I define the independent people with a life. They have a job. They have friends and/or family. They live in a residence with a roof. They own a car. Health is good. Finances are stable. They own a cell phone. Intelligence is solid. There are no felonies. They have the little things such as the ability to read, sleep on a mattress, showering, access to bare necessities, cooking meals, and browsing the internet.

There are a number of people self-destructing. There are a number of families imploding. These people and these families have all of the above. They're screwing it up. They take life for granted. There is too much fun. There is too much spending. There is too much junk. People are working too little to strengthen relationships. Too many hours of television is watched. Too many hours of video games are played. Too much alcohol is consumed. Too much complaining. Too little appreciation. There are problems for which many are ignored and few are solved. Time will tell whether all of the above remains or all of the above vanishes.

I'm angry. I'm pissed. People like me trade places with these independent people any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Life flows the independent people's way. These people fail to continue going with the flow. I ask the question, "Who are the real losers?" I'm not a loser today.
